“my perfect wedding”
Reviewed 28 June 2012

i have to say, having never been on an "all inclusive" resort before i was a little sceptical about what exactly was free and what wasnt, was i going to have to wear a wrist band or something.

Everything is free. . . .

apart from some expensive branded spirits, the whole resort is a free for all. i was there with my 2 kids and my soon to be wife, and we all thought it was an amazing time, plenty of pools around, big water flumes in the hotel, plenty of space to lounge around the pools or the jacuzi. there is a long list of excursions that you can participate in at an additional cost, i recommend the couples escapade, very romantic.

it was really really great, we got married at the resort.
they really went the extra mile to make our day really special for us, all the arrangements were taken care of, the photos were excellent, everything was perfect. the staff at the resort could not have been more friendly, which made the whole holiday much more relaxing and we really felt welcome.

the resort itself could do with a lick of paint here and there, but i didnt care about that in the slightest, the rooms were nice with your own balcony or garden depending on the floor you stayed on. the air con was fantastic, and very much needed as it is always so hot out there, even when it rains hard, it dries up within minutes.

one thing i will say to all you smokers out there, dont go to the shop on site for your ciggies.
if you leave the resort following the road to the staff gates, go a little further up you will find the beach on the outside, there is a bar there, and the prices are pennies, i think it worked out about £2.20 a pack of 20 compared to the £5 in the hotel.

amazing time, we will definately return there

we are going to renew our vowes in about 8-9 years, perhaps il see you there :)

Great resort. Loads of sunbeds and hammocks in the full sun, partial sun or full shade - you chose. Two large pools - one for fun and splashing and one for serious swimming and sports. Then there is the quitet pool for the adults and the lazy river and chute for the younger ones. Added to that you also have the sea and a long sandy beach.
Suggest you plan for your room not to be ready and pack your swimming costume and suncream so easily accessible. Accept the welcome drink, use the excellent changing rooms to get ready and go and lay in the sun and have a swim - all very welcome after a long flight. There's plenty of time later to unpack and settle in to your room. Likewise when leaving no need to extend the room time just use the changing facilities with showers and hairdryers to freshen up before your return flight. That way as you are so close to the airport you can enjoy a half day in the sun on arrival and and full day at the end.
The staff are genuinely pleasant, they seem to enjoy their work and are very attentive. The food was excellent, we ate mostly at the buffet (inside and outside) as such a large variety of choices - only problem you want to try everything and it is all very good.
We were lucky enough to arrive (approx 30 minutes from landing to being by the pool - it was that fast) when England were kicking off in the Euro2012 against Ukrane so weren't at all bothered by the room not being ready in fact they had to come to find us. On our return England were playing Italy (had to leave before the penalty shoot out) probably just as well considering the result. The bar staff were very quick to respond to the need of refreshments during the match and came round with trays of beers lined up for everyone - a very nice touch.
Others have recommended the dirty banana cocktail. Lovely but better at the adult pool bar where if you ask for chocolate to be added it is heaven.

Room Tip: Harmony very nice, A/C very efficient and not noisy

the location of the resort in its self its great! it is literally 5 mins away from the airport. The hotel its self is very very beautiful, the pools are cleaned every morning. we went from 06/16-06-20, the weather was perfect, it was sunny and hot. it was just my boyfriend and i, we stayed in Splash side of hotel, which was perfect!
The crew at the Resort are very friendly and helpful, they try their best to keep everyone entertain and to get you into their shows or acts. every night there was something different, the crew knew how to engage the audience.
MUST go ZIPLINE!! it is awesome and alot of FUN! we signed up at the Adventure Desk of the Resort.
The saturday mornign tour of the town is beautiful, its nice to walk around the town and see local people and money and their goods.

Yes the beach has seaweed but its not to the point that you can not get in. But if you dont want to go to the beach then just stay in the pools or the slides or the lazy river. the Harmoney side has a pool aswell but its smaller, the bigger pools and actions are all in the Splash side. We were on Floor 4 with Ocean View, and it was just beautiful. The room was well cleaned and maintained.

Overall would DEFINITELY go back to the resort, everything was so nice, the food was GREAT! we eat a lot at the Grill by the Pool side, its open until 1 am. The buffet, italian and chinese restaurants that they have are really good. The bar by the check in area and the pool side are great! They had all the drinks you wanted and ready and willing to serve. Again, this is a great place for either a big group or just a couple like us.

My wife and I stayed at the Coconut Bay resort from June 03 to June 10. We had a great time. This was our first time in St. Lucia and we loved it. You cannot beat the location of this resort. It literally is two minutes from the airport. Our plane touched down at 3 PM and by 4 PM we were at the resort, checked in, unpacked, and in the pool! We were greeted just outside the airport exit and handed a package with resort information, our luggage was whisked away onto a mini-bus and we were off to the hotel. At the hotel we were greeted with a cool towel and a cold rum punch. Check in was smooth and easy. Our room was on the first floor of the first building in the Harmony section. Perfect for us as it was a short walk to the adult pool area or to the lobby/restaurants etc. Our room was clean and quite nice with a patio. The AC unit worked well the whole time we were there. We had plenty of room to unpack all of our belongings and there is a safe for valuables. The safe was big enough to leave our camera and even the small netbook computer we had brought. Speaking of which, the wifi at this hotel worked in our room and also at the adult pool area.
The grounds at this resort are beautiful and well maintained. Compared to most, there is not a lot of walking and everything was easy to get to. It is a great idea to have a family side and an adults only side. We loved to be able to relax near the adult pool, bar and beach without any undue noise or distractions. Having said that, the family side of the resort is very nice too, with the larger pool, swim up bar, and water slides. There were plenty of families at the resort and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The resort was not crowded and we never had to worry about getting a lounge chair in a good spot, or lining up for meals. The only line-up was for the beach grill in the afternoons, but even that was not too long, and they always had pizza on hand for a quick bite with no line up.
Speaking of the food, it was great. We tried all 3 a la cartes and I have to say I'd have a tough time choosing my favorite. They were all very good. Nice atmosphere, wonderful service, and great food. Unlike some resorts we have been to, you did not feel like you were missing out by just going to the buffet. The buffet meals were great too, and they changed the offerings each day. The staff and this resort were very good and you always had the feeling that they wanted you to enjoy your stay there. The manager's cocktail party was fun and we even won a prize!
We did a guided tour of the island which included a catamaran trip down the Caribbean side, lunch, and a trip to botanical gardens and a volcano. Our guide was very informative and we enjoyed that trip very much. We also did the sunset cruise which was great fun and saw dolphins during that trip. We booked our trips through our rep, not through the hotel. They were not cheap, but seemed like pretty good value for the money. The trips through booked through the hotel might have been cheaper, I think. We got a $250 resort credit which my wife used for a massage which she enjoyed, and we used the rest in the well stocked gift shop. There is also a diamonds international store right at the resort. There are local vendors that come in twice a week with the usual tourist items. They seemed to be the same both days we saw them, though.
The resort provides beach towels which you can exchange any time you want which is nice.
This resort is on the Atlantic side and as others have said it is quite windy most of the time. We found it nice, that there was a breeze every day to take the edge off the heat. There was only one time when it got too windy to lay near the beach but that was only for a short time. There was seaweed washing up most days but they did their best to clean the beach regularly. There was a letter in our welcome package from the management apologizing for the seaweed problem, but it's not really their fault. There was no problem swimming in the ocean as there are breakwalls to keep the waves down near the beach areas. We met many nice people at the resort and really enjoyed the whole experience. Thanks to Small J at the adult pool bar for always remembering my "usual" :-)
I am having a hard time thinking of any negative things to say. The water pressure in the shower was a bit low a couple of times. That's about it.
I highly recommend this resort as a great place to spend a holiday in St. Lucia.

Room Tip: We had a ground floor room in the first building of the Harmony section. Perfect for us since my wif...

Stayed in the standard room. 3rd floor Non-Smoking. Travelled in May 2011. Only rained once.

Positives:

Beach was small but pretty private. Most seemed to prefer the pools which were also very nice.

View at night was incredible.

Drinks were strong.

Employees were very friendly.

Dedicated activity staff.

Room was pretty nice.

Very close to airport.

Distance to town is short.

Neutrals/Negatives;

At the end of the trip, our room started to smell strongly of smoke. Complained and nothing was done.

Beach had a lot of seaweed but it wasn't unswimmable.

Food was average, but we loved the breakfast. I also liked lunch. Dinner was ok. Service at all was great.

When we first arrived, it wasn't crowded and the experience was great. As the week went on, more people arrived and the general experience suffered a bit. I'd recommend going at a time where crowds are minimal.

The town of Vieux Fort is close but this is located on the worst side of the island for ocean quality things to do.
