“Excellent for a weekend break or longer *****”
Reviewed 26 September 2011

We visited the Halfway House Inn, for a special birthday weekend and found it excellent. It is ideally situated for the many attractions in the area especially the excellent Severn Valley Railway, as Bridgeorth Station is only a 10 minute drive or 25 minute walk away from the Inn. The rooms are clean, well furnished and have some of the best showers we have found in B&B accomodation. Being a Freehouse Peter keeps a fine range of Real ales and ciders, the food is also good with the emphasis being on traditional British fare when we visited. The breakfast is also excellent. For evening visitors there is a large conservatory where you can enjoy a relaxing meal looking out over the well kept garden. They do welcome well behaved Pets and are happy for you to bring them into the Pub as long as it is not too busy. The Halfway House Inn caters for all budgets with B&B accomodation, Cottages, Caravaning and Camping also availible caravan pitches are excellent being level and there are about 6 all weather pitches with running water avalible. All caravan pitches had electric hook-ups avalible. Both caravaners and campers have excellent facilities with toilet block and hot showers availible. I would completely reccommend staying at this Inn, Peter is a credit to the tourist industry in this Country. *****

Small site with usual ablutions with water and electric hook up.
Meal wonderful. Hubby had the rib eye steak which he is still raving about. I had the lamb - so tender and tasty.
Will return!

My wife and I arrived at Halfway House Inn at dusk after a long day's drive. We were pleasantly greeted by Peter, who offered us a room even though the Inn was closing early for the night due to a special staff function. He and his wife were most welcoming and even prepared a light evening meal before he and the staff headed off for their function. The room was very comfortable. Peter prepared a hearty breakfast the following morning and chatted enthusiastically about his visit to Australia in 2003 for the Rugby World Cup. We marvelled at the glass panel in the eating area which revealed hand-painted decoration of the original wall dating to the early 1600's. (nearly 200 years before James Cook discovered the east coast of Australia!) We left happy, well-rested and determined to recommend this B&B.

Friendly welcome, some amazing fresh-cooked food. (Was a little slow, but he had a lot on, new bar girl needed help.)

Also organised a day out with a local activity centre, which was good value too.

(We were in a camper in the field.)

If you are looking for a one stay as part of a wider camping trip then this may suffice but apart from that there is little that makes this site stand out. The welcome was cold and abrupt, a vague point into where we could pitch our tent made us less willing to visit the pub itself. The ground was very hard and so pitching was difficult. The shower block was good and the electric hook-up worked well.

There are some kennels nearby which I took to be a place for hunting dogs by their bark and they seemed to howl for most of both of the two nights we were there. Of course also a draw back of camping next to a pub is that it encourages other campers to stagger noisily back to their tents and this meant that this along with the dogs meant that sleep was not an option.

The unfriendly welcome meant that I was less tolerant of the other problems we encountered and I will not be returning.
