My friend and I stayed at Villa Joanna for a week at the start of November and like the majority of reviewers, we were extremely impressed with both the standard of accommodation and the entire booking process from start to finish. Communications with the owner Brian were swift and extremely helpful as all relevant information about the villa and surrounding location was provided well in advance of our arrival. Brian also stayed in touch via email to check we had arrived safely and to wish us a pleasant return journey home which was an especially nice touch. A couple of minor issues were quickly resolved by John who was on hand to help when needed and to regularly clean the pool.
The photos shown on the website are entirely accurate. We arrived to find a homely and tastefully decorated townhouse with great outdoor space that fully warranted all the great reviews that have been written before. It is very clear that the owners of Villa Joanna take great pride in what they do and they know exactly how to do it right. Having stayed in many privately owned apartments before, it's the little things you notice. There was nothing we had to rush out and buy because everything you might need such as washing up liquid, toilet rolls and a first aid kit was readily available. This was particularly helpful because the nearest supermarkets are around 10-15 minutes walk of the villa. There is a bus stop and taxi rank within walking distance too and the walk to the centre takes around 30 mins down a gently-steeping hill. My best advice is to walk down and get a taxi back because they are very reasonable priced and it actually works out much cheaper and quicker than going via the circular bus route if there are two or more of you.
In summary there is nothing I can fault about Villa Joanna which offers great value for money for anyone looking for a safe and quiet location in very pleasant surroundings. We had a brilliant time in Playa Blanca in clean and comfortable surroundings and the weather was warm and pleasant all week. Exactly what you'd hope for from a winter break in the sun. Thankyou!!!
We stayed here in October 2017 and had a fabulous family holiday. My husband and I and my 3 children aged 8 and 4 year old twins. We took a flight from Stansted on a Friday and landed at 11:30,so a respectable time for the kids with plenty of the day left. It’s around a 30 minute drive from the airport and the roads are very straightforward. On arriving at the villa it was exactly as the pictures had shown. The pool was lovely and was well maintained by Jon who pops in on all the local villas to see if all is ok. He also said in his opinion we had the best villa for price and facilities. There were plenty of other things to do including a pool table/table tennis, even an Xbox if the kids needed a bit of time out of the sun. Brian left packs of cards and scrabble that we played in the evening when the kids were in bed which was nice while having a beer sitting out on the terrace. The pool was plenty big enough and sun loungers for everyone. The villa was nicely decorated and had everything we need. This is the first time I’ve hired a villa vs going to a hotel and to be honest with the children I think this is now the way forward for us as a family. For supermarkets I’d recommend driving the 30 odd minutes to puerto del carmen and stocking up at Lidl which was the best value for money. For beaches you are spoiled for choice. We liked Playa Dorada and playa flamingo which were both great for kids and cafes etc. We didn’t get to papagayo beach which was a shame but if we didn’t have the kids we’d have spent the day there. This is because it’s a very natural beach with a bit
Of a walk from the car park which is fine but as it’s unspoilt there’s not much in the way of shops which meant the kids couldn’t have ice creams etc but it’s definitely worth a visit according to the locals. All in all a great villa, holiday and part of the island. We will definitely re book this when we come back to Lanzarote.
Have stayed in various villas over the past 7 years in Playa Blanca booking via a villa letting company this was the 1st time we had booked direct with the owner. The reviews on Villa Joanna were so good that we thought we would give it a go and how glad are we. From start to finish Brian the owner is swift to respond and keeps in touch before, during and after your holiday. The villa is a home from home and has everything you could ever need for your holiday from a lovely pool, patio area, bikes, British TV, excellent water pressure in the showers, superb wifi connection, pool table, xbox and table tennis to name a few. These are some of the things that have lacked in previous villas we have stayed but I am pleased to say that Villa Joanna has the full 5* package without the high price tag. The owners have put a lot of work into making the villa perfect. The villa is about a 30 minute walk from the centre of Playa Blanca but you can get a taxi for around 3/4 euros and buses are cheap if you don't fancy walking. I would definitely book this villa again.
The reviews on Trip Advisor were excellent so we booked through Holiday Lettings. We were really impressed by Brian's swift response and in fact he kept in touch before and during our stay to ensure everything was right for us. The Villa is very clean and comfortable with a good functioning kitchen and very big fridge. The bathrooms are lovely and we liked the decor as it was attractive but homely. Other reviewers have mentioned "a home away from home" and that's exactly how we felt, so much so that we are going to book the Villa again next year. Staying here really made our holiday more enjoyable. The situation is good too.
