“A great relaxing break”
Reviewed 5 March 2012

Recently returned from a week to HL club playa blanca, stayed from 22nd Feb to 29th. A very enjoyable week. I would agree with the 4 star rating of the hotel reception/restuarant area but would only rate the bungalow accomodation as 3 star. Food was good and always a wide selection of choice's. The outside pool bar was always well staffed and the girl who worked tirelessly all week was very pleasant. The manager was always 'hands on' you would see him everywhere, I am sure there must of been about 4 of him, he must be working 18 hours a day. A 10 minute wals to the shops and seafront with a small sandy beach should you want one. Unfortunately the evening entertainment was poor for the adults, a bar with local soap programmes on or a childrens entertainment programme in the hall next door but the entertainment team workrd well for the youngsters. The weather was good after a cloudy day or 2 with 5 days of blue sky and temperatures towards the mid 20's centigrade. Stayed in room 806 which was close to reception, pool, bar and restuarant. I would reccommend this hotel to friends and may re-visit it again in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for a room close to the pool.

all you hear about these days is how bad a place is some of the reviews on this hotel are so bad that i wonder which hotel they stopped at, the one I stopped at was wonderful the receptionist when we arrived was friendly and informative and quick to book you in. the grounds are clean and where always being cleaned the pool area was great with ample sunbeds at all times even when it was busy the staff were polite and always had a smile for you and nothing was to much that they could not help you. the rooms well I say rooms I mean bungalows are huge with plenty of space some even have a back yard others had 2 bedrooms all are cleaned regular. the food was really good with several choices of meats and all kinds of veg salads cheeses and sauces and the desserts well the only way to describe these is beautiful ho and there was loads of fruit as well.

the entertainment was mainly the animation team but they work hard interacting with everyone all day then put shows and bingo and the mini discos as well as all this there were bird and reptile show as well as the parrot show and the acrobats show was great so plenty to do.
if you want to go down into the town grab a taxi a couple of euros down into the port and legends for a karaoke or the town centre for a live act at the irish bar great and much more have a look round you will love it

if your mad try walking up the volcano that gets you fit but the views are great, well thats all from me I may sound bias but its all true relax have a great holiday i am sure you will.

Just got back from a 4 night stop. Hotel 30 mins max from airport. The hotel is about 10 to 15 min walk to the shops and seafront it is an easy walk, a number of bars and shops to suit all nice seafront walk and beach. The bungalow we stayed in was one bedroom good size and clean serviced everyday we were there only small down side no power in the shower just over a trickle but did the job just, there where table and chairs to use outside the bungalow nice touch.Pool and bar area very good not busy due to the time of year well set out area large pool did not use. Food wise in my view there was a good selection of food plenty to eat you will not go hungry. Did not watch the evening show would use the other bar for a drink. I liked this hotel and would go back very good

Just returned from a week away at this Hotel and I was very worried before I went due to the amount of negative reviews, I even considered upgrading to a 5* but glad I didnt. The Hotel is a 10 min walk from the centre of Playa Blanca which is a lovely resort, very clean great sandy beaches and safe for children, plenty of bars/shops. When we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded at no extra charge to a 2 bedroom bungalow and we had paid for a 1 bed one so this was a great start to us. The bunglow was large with a microwave, kettle, fridge, take your own hairdryer. The main bedroom was huge with loads of wardrobe space and the bathroom was nice too we had hot water every night for baths and 2 showers. Maids came in everyday except Thurs and Sun and fresh towels were provided and the room cleaned. We found the rooms comfortable, clean and well equipped considering we were all inclusive we didnt need that much. It was great having all that space yet being in a Hotel. Now lets get to the food, I was worried as some reviews are terrible, all I can say is if you dont find something to eat at any of the meals then there is something wrong with you, I am very fussy but the choice at night was brilliant, there were loads of things and the Paella was lovely, they had a grill in the middle of the buffet and they cooked food fresh every night. we had ribs, pork chops chicken breast, they also did a themed night such as mexican, chinese, we found the food really good. We have 2 children ages 7 & 8 and they had fresh pancakes cooked for them every morning, they loved the food and tried lots of different things. The cream cakes were nice too and the desserts were good quality. The salad bar was great, the only thing to watch out for is the lettuce, it had greenfly on which isnt uncommon abroad and that put me off eating it but apart from that the rest of the food was great. The drinks were what we expected and had no problems with them at all. The entertainment at night wasnt to our taste but they tried really hard to keep the kids amused and had different acts on each night. The kids club was restricted to ages 3 - 6years which I found bizarre? Mine were too old for it but they allowd them in as it was a quiet week when we went. The animation team were great and friendly as were the Hotel staff, the manager walked around all the time making sure the guests were happy. Yes you have to queue for drinks at night but whose in a rush on holiday?
The pool area was really nice, yes the jacuzzi was out of order and the pool isnt heated as it states in the brochure, in fact my kids didnt enter the pool the entire week we were there as it was a freezing pool and I mean freezing, noone went in it which was such a waste as it was gorgeous! people were complaining about the pool and my girls were upset they couldnt swim but it didnt spoil our holiday and all the other Hotels were the same, the pools are very cold!
I didnt see any cockroaches or insects in the Hotel the whole week and the we found it very clean and the grounds are gorgeous.
All in all we had a fantastic week here at this Hotel and I would recommend it, if you want 5* then you will pay alot more money for it, this Hotel was good and we would return to it, we never went hungry. The weather was really nice and hot, some days were cloudier and overcast but lets not forget its Feb? we sunbathed and went on the beach and the clear blue skies were fab! you need to take a fleece or cardigan at night as it goes cold at this time of year and you cant sit outside, the wind is quite coldn at night but during the day it was fantastic weather.
Just a tip dont book excursions through the Hotel as they are alot cheaper in Town! we did the South Tour to the Timanfa National parc and had a good day, its worth seeing the vast amount of volcanoes that Lanzarote has. This Island is our fave of all the Canaries and Playa Blanca is by far the best resort on the island.

This was a booked about 6 weeks before departure and a bargain from Travelrepublic!
Shame that on arrival the reception team did the best they could to move us to their sister hotel down the road! Really found that a very negative start!
Other than that the hotel was clean, it needed a fresh lick of paint and a little upkeep. Jacuzzi & waterfall feature in pool did not work.
Food was good, plenty of selection and fresh. Alcoholic drinks are local & strong, wine on tap just just ok!
Bar area was very basic and cramped, no comfy seats or sofas. Rooms / bungalows were roomy, bathrooms a good standard. Walls paper thin, can hear next doors conversations, with air vents acting as amplifiers!
Overall, a 3 star on UK standards!

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view, you'll be very lucky to get one though!
