Decent enough basic food, lovely location but service is abysmal, waiting an age for food / cheque etc

Writing this in the hope we can avoid people being done with drink prices like we were. We went to casa joaquin got a vodka & lemonade & a local beer, when the bill came we were staggered to find they had charged €8.90 for a vodka & lemonade, ( we paid less than that for both drinks in every other bar we went in ),the bill was over €13. This was double what we paid in any other bar in Playa Blanca for the same drinks. When we questioned the bill the staff member said it was 'good' vodka! It was the same as every other vodka in every other bar on the island. My husband told him it was the dearest bar on the island & he just shrugged his shoulders. We left & never went back after that. Holidays are too hard earned to be ripped off with drinks prices. We found La Bahia on the same row of bars a lot better, half the price & lovely food too.
Great location right on the beach - a good size and steady flow of diners. Plenty of staff, so drinks on the table and order taken without delay. Friendly staff and the food arrive promptly - portions were enormous and food really good. We were expecting a light lunch, but my club sandwich would have easily fed two. Enjoyable and recommended.
As the nearest restaurant to our holiday hotel, we thought we wood give Casa Joaquin a try, on our first visit we enjoyed a Seafood Paella for two and very good it was too, on the second visit we tried some fillet steaks which were a little over cooked for our taste, but would be classified as ok. Great view over Playa Flamingo so definitely in the category of OK rather than outstanding, but a good option if like us you were tired after a long day travelling and wanted a reasonable restaurant close to the hotel.
This restaurant is in a nice location at Playa Flamingo. The views of the sunset are beautiful. The menu is good and the food tasty. The service was slow however. We waited ages for drinks and the food even though there are fancy buttons to call the waiters on the table. The calls were ignored as they were rushed off their feet. There isn’t enough staff working here. The waiters were friendly but it did not make up for the wait especially when you have hungry children. Another thing, the restaurant is under a canopy rather than a roof. The smoking policy allowed for smokers to puff away around you. Very offensive and uncomfortable.
