We had a wonderful break here. It is in a great location with a short walk to the town. The pool was lovely-incredibly warm when using the cover. We loved the BBQ and outdoor eating space. There were a couple of minor points such as the kitchen was good but only had a small range of equipment and there was only a net curtain in the second bedroom. Overall though we loved it and would strongly consider going back.
This was our our first time in Lanzarote and we were looking for a relaxing holiday in the sun after a very busy period at work. We wanted a bit of a get-away but with everything a short walk away, and we were not disappointed with Casa Rana! Perfectly peaceful, it's a lovely hideaway in an area of quiet and tidy roads called Los Calamares, a mixture of residential and holiday lets in Playa Blanca. It's a really spacious property so although there were only two of us, it would suit a large family. It's got everything you could possibly need - an up to date kitchen with an easy to use cooker and dishwasher and a big fridge, a large washing machine, tumble dryer and washing lines, constant hot water, and comfortable beds with new linen, and towels. There is even British TV! Best of all of course was having our own pool. We are usually hotel-bods, so don't rent holiday villas very often, and hadn't realised how much more relaxing it is having somewhere to yourself. We had breakfast outside in the sun and got a kick every morning at finding ourselves there in such a fabulous spot. At the top of a slight incline, the property has stunning views of the sea (unexpected!) and the mountains. We hadn't expected such lovely views! It's secluded and secure, private and extremely peaceful, but only a ten minute walk away from the town. There are loads of affordable restaurants and bars and very conveniently there are also 3 large supermarkets within a 10 minute walk with everything you could need, include some familiar brands. They very much cater for a British customer and are easy to find. Take your own shopping bags as usual. In the nearest supermarket, loose vegetables and fruit are weighed and labelled by a member of staff. The town is very nice and clean and has a lovely beach and harbour.
Unless you want a holiday exploring the island, you really don't need a car. We used last-minute transfer which is bookable online and it cost 40 euros for return transfers for the two of us. You need to print off the vouchers beforehand and they collect you where they dropped you off at a pre-arranged time at the end of your holiday. It takes 40 minutes from the airport. This has been one of our most enjoyable holidays - certainly the most relaxing! - and we will definitely go back to Casa Rana if it's available.
