We stayed at the Villa Campestri for two weeks. Having 2 young children, aged 1 and 3, we did not want to move around between hotels in the summer. We did however want to explore Tuscany, visit Lucca and Florence, spend time at Lago di Bilancino and relax in between our days trips. Plus its a great location for The Mall at Inciesa and the outlet at Barberino di Mugello. Bargains galore at both locations.

Villa Campestri was absolutely perfect as a base for these trips and as a totally wonderful haven for the relaxing part of our holiday. The team make you very welcome and the ambience is natural and friendly all over the hotel and its terrific grounds and pool.

Food is unbelievable. There are three menu's for dinner, and it is fine to select one dish from each menu for antipasti, primi and secondi. Wine also terrific in terms of selection available, value for money and the ability of Dario to match your food and wine together for an entire table!

We will definately go back and really enjoyed our trip to Villa Campestri.

Fantastic stay, Campestri has a lovely pool with a terrific view, warm and welcoming staff who did everything possible to make it a great stay. Nice big rooms and spotlessly clean. Restaurant is good - breakfast was spectacular but they take an age to serve dinner which is not so suitable for families (we averaged 2 hours). We found it quicker to drive to Vicchio and eat. A short drive to Florence through some very scenic countryside. we had a terrific time. It's not air conditioned and the staff gave us a fan which saw us right.

Room Tip: Ask for a fan as its not air conditioned.

Even though we'd read these outstanding reviews, the Villa Campestri exceeded our expectations. All good hotel staff is well trained; the people at the Villa truly want to please you.
The grounds are beautiful. The pool is on a grassy terrace surrounded by umbrellas of wisteria. You will be offered a map of walking trails through olive groves, past ancient walls and barns, shrines, woods, startled deer, and wild cherry trees. We had the suite with the 16thC 8' long bed. Try starting a day by swinging open the wooden shutters to see the sun glinting off the gold canopy! Best advice: The food is excellent, but even if you're sure of your order, ask Dario about each dish. His enthusiastic descriptions are mesmerizing, almost as good as the food. I asked about tomato soup, just to see what he could do. His eyes lit up and in 10 seconds, he had me expecting manna from heaven. And it was. We were content to enjoy the serenity of this beautiful villa for 3 days. We had intended to spend a day or 2 in Florence but that will have to wait until our next visit.
