Here is the one place to stop (and stay) when touring Tuscany, it is a wonderful House indeed.
The 13th century building is just lovely, the settings are huge, the scenery and surroundings are astounding ( you can walk everywhere and even get some isolated place for yourself to relax);
The rooms are beautiful ( we had successively two different ones with different views), they're tastefully furnished and you can't but feel at home..
We had dinner too, the food is very good indeed and the atmosphere is so romantic. And we'll remember having breakfast on that wonderful terrasse with view...

Every member of the staff is friendly and helpful (a special thanks to Sandra, for her natural smile and friendliness )

The area is untouristic and interesting - a very good base for exploring the real Tuscany, not far away either from spots like Firenze, Lucca, the Chianti Road, and the numerous villages everywhere...

It was everything we had hoped for, and more. So, when we drove South to stay in another hotel we had booked (same category), we were so disappointed not to live the same experience, that we shortened our stay there and drove back to Villa Campestri!! It was difficult to give back that key of our wonderful junior suite when we left! But no doubt we'll be back

Me and my husband stayed at Villa Campestri in may 2012, for four days. It was our first vacation without our children and we were hoping it to bee relaxing and romantic.

It was everything we had hoped of, and more. We had a beautiful room, the surroundings and the views were astounding! The restaurant served so good food, that we ended up eating dinner there all evenings.

The staff is very helpful and serviceminded!

We would go back anytime!

The 13th century house and the estate is lovingly restored and well-kept, and the 2 bedroom suite we shared was furnished with comfortable beds and beautiful antique pieces of furniture. Service was very helpful and forthcoming and our one night stay was indeed restful and tranquil in this relais de silence. And while the wifi signal was not strong in our bedroom, it worked fine in the reception area littered with comfortable sofas where one could while the hours away. The grounds, set high on a hill top with olive oil trees was also beautiful and we traipsed on a short trek (which could've been better marked) to enjoy the scenery.
Breakfast was very fancy with freshly pressed juices, good coffee and homemade olive oil pastries amongst other options.
Our stay was marred by dinner. While there were 3 and 4 course menus available, we were intrigued by the 8 course degustation of their special and highly touted olive oil dishes. 2 of us took that option while the other person went a la carte. But the portion sizes for the 50e 8 course menu was a total joke, I've attached photos to prove I'm not maligning anybody. For the 3 antipastos, we had 3 table spoons full of food, and for the 3 pasta dishes, a few strands of the yummy chestnut tagliatelle, 2 small raviolis in tomato and cheese sauce and 1 large ravioli with a strip of asparagus. The duo of meat was slightly larger but in no way substantial. The food was good but the very stingy portions left a bad taste in our mouths. I eat out a lot and are well aware of the need to shrink portions for degustation menus in order not to overeat, but this was ridiculous. To add injury to insult, dessert was not included so we ordered them separately. Our desserts (10e each) was the biggest course we had for the entire meal. It was especially misleading because the server even told us before we ordered that "if we were hungry, we might not want the degustation." Clearly, we were hungrier after dinner! Caveat emptor for those who plan to stay and dine (almost certainly given the remote location).

Dear "lafemmemange",
Thank you very much for your review and for the wonderful pictures of our Tasting Menu. I'm so sorry that you didn't find the portions adequate in the Tasting Menu but I believe that those pictures you are attaching reveal to the readers that portions are very nice. It's a shame that you didn't take the picture of the main course (the duo meat) because that would be the demonstration that portion sizes are not stingy at all. As you know the very difficult decision about a degustation Menu is the size of the portions. Over the years we modified the quantities of our Tasting Menu step by step based on feedback we received from our guests and it's about 1 year that we arrived to the actual composition masterfully photographed by our customer. I have to admit, this is the first time I've heard this complaint. Why you have not told our waiter that you were still hungry? Dario, our head waiter, constantly asked you if everything was fine. About the price: for first quality food structurally presented with selection of the best olive oil in the world that includes years of study, knowledge and passion, we are confident that 50 EUR is not expensive at all. However when you come back to Villa Campestri, which I hope will be soon, we now know your wishes: large portions!

My wife, my 2-year old daugther and myself stayed for 5 nights in a superior room with a half pension package. Our expectations were already high because of the many good reviews but the hotel managed to top them! The staff was really friendly, particularly loved our baby, the food just really delicious (Italian food in Italy tasted 100x better than abroad) and portions rather big and the wine that Dario, our great waiter, picked for us perfectly met our taste (every night another one). The room, a spacious superior double room, was also great, big, nice with big bathroom. The area there is just beautiful, the hotel really classy, a little away from the touristy spots, exactly what we were looking for, with some nice little towns in the area (we particularly liked Fiesole and Scarperia) and an easy train ride to Firenze. We are already planning to go back.

Room Tip: Spacious double room that is offered with the "dine with us" package is great for a couple...
