We took a bus from Kagaonsen. It was so lovely strolling the gorge, admiring the handiwork of temples and bridges. We were the only westerners, in fact there were very few people which was lovely. There are so many beautiful trees and plants, so many greens. Love the Japanese maple. Be sure to visit the 2500 year cypress at the gorge end. It's so stunning

This was a great way to spend some peaceful time in the Kanga area. Nice place to escape the crowds. The moss and trees are really beautiful.

This was a terrific walk along the river and enjoyed the bridge views. We took the local bus to the river gorge from the hotel which was easy. After completing the walk we stopped and had a cup of tea at the many local cafes

My wife and I walked the gorge in the autumn in 2015 with all the vibrant colors of the maples and other trees. We thought this the most beautiful walk in Japan.

We visited Yamanaka Onsen for three days in March and this walk is just as stunning as in the fall, just different. The cherry trees are budded but not yet open. The mosses are more visible in the leafless forest.

The sound of the water is the same. Very relaxing.

The park is really peaceful and quiet. It has a beautiful view along the river. Distance between 2 bridges is around 1.3 Km. There is a lovely coffee shop close to the Kuratani bridge and also the elegant Higashiyama shrine. It's worth to visit.
