“Great Cottage and Great Sunsets”
Reviewed 14 January 2018 for a stay in October 2017

We rented for a week in October 2017 for a thanksgiving get-away. The cottage is located right on the shore looking west, well equipped, and very comfortable. Since I had to work while I was there I found the high-speed WIFI excellent. The bedrooms are a little on the small side, as the main living/kitchen/dining room is the key feature - but the pricing reflects that. We felt it was value for money.

It is a rocky shore with no sandy beach, except back up the road about 400m where there is public beach and boat launch area. This is typical for the Bruce, of course.

The listing was a bit ambiguous about the water situation. The tap water has a slight sulphur smell owing to its origin and so we bought bottled water for drinking and cooking, but used the tap water for everything else. The hand book - or something - suggested that the owner provides so many containers of water but we didn't find that. It was no bother and they are easy to procure. We were coming from the Guelph area and almost always stop in Durham to fill-up at the Pioneer gas station there, and it sells containers of water (the big ones for water fountains) for a few $.

That's about it. We rented quite a few places in the Bruce over the years, and this was pretty good, and excellent value. We would recommend the place!

“An Amazing Week in Bradley Harbour”
Reviewed 22 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

This cottage is exactly as described: amazing views of Lake Huron, perfectly location between Lions Head and Tobermory, minutes to the Lindsay Tract Trails, and a fabulous opportunity to explore all the Bruce Peninsula has to offer.

We took in a number of hikes and sights along the Bruce Trail including The Grotto, Flowerpot Island, Halfmile Log Dump, Grieg's Caves, and others.

A note of warning, the septic system is delicate. Please heed the warnings and don't flush anything but toilet paper. Also, the kitchen furnishings (plates, cutlery, pots and pans, etc) are a bit outdated so if you plan to do a lot of cooking, be sure to bring your most needed tools (I couldn't find a spatula anywhere). That being said, all appliances worked fine and we managed without much issue.

There is an amazing breeze off the lake and it's perfect for flying one of the many kites in the basement. Or if you'd rather, challenge your cottage-mates to a rousing game of horseshoes. The fire pit was just perfect for our cookout and the breeze of the shore helped to stave off the bugs.

All-in-all, we had a great week in Bradley Harbour at Silver Side's Sanctuary and wouldn't hesitate to go back!

The cotage is advertised for up to 6 people but barely large enough for two. The sea front is bedrock and this side of the penensula is always windy. Otherwise sunsets are beautiful and the location is good.
