Bebos BBQ does not look like much on the highway as you pass it on the way to the airport but, were you to stop in and try the food you would be pleasantly surprised. Their main staple is pork and let me tell you it is delicious. You order the pork by weight and then add the side items which include rice mixed with pigeon peas, yuca (like a potato) smothered in olive oil and onions, batata (sort of a sweet potato), sweet plantains, and green bananas. They also have blood sausage, longaniza (the Puertorican version of sausage) and of course chicken. It is but a 15 minute ride from the airport, tell the cab driver you want to go to BEBOS BBQ on Marginal Los Angeles, and for a group of 8 the ride was $21. Truly a worthwell ride if you are just sitting at the airport and have time to burn. It is very inexpensive, two can eat and drink for about $25. One thing for sure, the service is slow and the place is busy so have lots of time (2hrs) when you go.

My friend and I are from Jamaica and know about authentic food that we call "ROAD FOOD". First of all, don't even waste your time going here for anything authentic because even the dining restaurants in Old San Juan like "Raices" food taste 150% better. We ordered pernil (roast pork) which was in the greasy window shown as a whole pig leg that looks nice and crispy which is what she asked the taxi driver in San Juan for. I ordered their famous "rotisserie chicken" as a back up and boy let me tell you if we didn't have that we would have starved that night from the disappointing tasteless pork. The meat is not seasoned well and very fatty and greasy, so it is not worth it at all. Keep driving by when you see the outside of this hut on the road.

If you like Puertorican food, with all its spices, grease and condiments, this is the place to come. They're always open, and always busy... so come without being in a rush cause you're going to be in line for a while, but it is worth it. They have great food at excellent prices. You can come alone, in groups, with family or friends... either way you'll leave happy and stuffed.

If this is your first time, please know that they specialize in Puertorican food and the BBQ is great. Try "arroz con gandules" (rice with pigeon peas), "yuca" (yucca with garlic, onions and oil), "platanos maduros" (ripe plantains), "batata" (sweet potato) with "pollo asado" (rotisserie chicken) or "lechon asado" (rotisserie pork) with "cuerito" (pork skin). You can choose from a variety of drinks including alcohol. They serve very large portions and other than my suggestions they also serve white rice, pork, stewed chicken, beans, fried plantains, blood sausage "morcillas", mondongo "tripe" and much more.

This is not a fancy place, so if you except to find something like it, let me bring you to reality. There is no AC, you seat outdoors, at night is cool, but during the day it can be stufy and hot... You seat on wood booths (see pictures), you some times see flies flying around (outside, not on the food), the ocassional stray dog; but other than that the place and tables are kept clean.

Locals drive there from many places, and its very popular. For tourists on a budget or daring of new things, it's great because its located minutes from San Juan's International Airport, along side the highway to Carolina. I believe that there are no english speaking employees, cause I saw a cater strugling while serving a tourist, so try to order in Spanish, have a spanish speaking friend come along or simply point to the food and they'll serve it.

There are 2 more Bebo's... a Bebo's BBQ in Carolina (65th Infanteria) and Bebo's Cafe in Calle Loiza. This last is a more fancy looking indoor with AC restaurant, I've never eaten there but I hear the food is great as well.

Even though I'm a local, I drove by several times on my way to Carolina and never stopped until last month when I was hungry at 3am with everything else close by closed, my boyfriend and I definitely enjoyed the food...

Remember don't expect anything fancy, but you'll definitly enjoy great food. Bon appetit!.

One is near the Condado and the Doubletree on Calle Loiza, the other (THIS one) is about as fancy as a Truck Stop and it's as casual as casual gets but their rotisserie chicken is the BEST I've ever had!!! If you're an adventurous tourist, go here! Otherwise, stick to the "other" Bebos but you're not going to get this unreal chicken!!! Buen Provecho!!!

Hands down this is the best value in San Juan. I only regret that we waited until the last day to stop here to eat. The staff is not bilingual but,, went out of their way to understand our English.
