Good views from the terrace
Food was excellent, well presented, well cooked and had actual vegetables.
Good variety of wine to choose from
Service was special with experienced waitresses
We enjoyed a birthday treat here
The setting is very nice, good decor and a good class of patron.
Would recommend as the best place to eat near the big hotels, karibea and creole. It was expensive but you felt you were getting what you paid for, equivalent to mainland France. The cocktails were expensive but it was the best planters we had on the trip. The barman tried to flog is a bottle for 25€ which was a little odd, nice guy though.
We enjoyed dressing up for the occasion and eating in a place people are paying 365€ a night to stay in.

Thank D C

We had dinner with 2 colleagues in the restaurant inside the Auberge de la Vieille Tour. The dining room has a dark wood decor with a colonial style. It’s rather old school. French cuisine with Creole touch was a success. I ate excellent foie gras, tasty scallops with rice, passion fruit sherbet. We shared a bottle of Sancerre blanc. Service was long, bill was hefty.
In the morning breakfast buffet was average. But the view of the bay from the balcony terrace was absolutely beautiful.

Food is fresh, well prepared, but a bit formal and stuffy. Location is gorgeous, staff friendly and accommodating.

If I had to do this trip over again I would have stayed at least 2 weeks due to the size of the Island. No Hotel chains, and KFC was the only fast food joint around. The remainder of Guadeloupe is the opposite of Cancun or similar overdeveloped tourist nightmare. It helps to speak some french although many locals can communicate in English as well. Roads are decent and local drivers are more reasonable than most places in Europe and Latin America. Of course, every morning I could walk to the nearest bakery for fresh baguettes and croissants and that alone would have made the trip worthy.

Although we did not stay at they Auberge, -we were staying at the Hotel-Residence part of it-, we used the restaurant facility and bar. In the two occasions, one were the only people sitting in the bar waiting to be attended to, but it was observed how the bar tender will continue to work, serving drinks for the main restaurant, without asking us. When we actually were able to secure his attention, a woman (staff from the Rest.) asked us if we were going to eat. We responded that we would love to, and would like to see a menu, since we didn't have reservations. She acted like she could hardly speak English, and didn't want to seat us in the main dining room. We were trying to assess why, since we observed some empty tables. Our 1st guess, was, that perhaps we were not dress properly; however, we were. This is tropical Island with a very humid and hot temperatures, and in the Caribbean in top of that, clothing is very minimal, if you get my drift here. We did feel that this woman did not approved of our attire, or the way we looked. I guess. Anyway, at that point we didn't care, we just wanted to eat and enjoy the beautiful veranda overlooking the sea. I spoke to the bar tender, and expressed our observations. Once again, the attitude, if you are not French or speak French, we don't go out of our way for you. -Our attitude,...No Worries..You Will Still Serve Me, because I have the Cash $$$. Thank you very much...Next! Not for the faint of heart, for sure. We made the best out of it! It always helps to have cultural intelligence, and not to personalize it.
