“Weekend Away”
Reviewed 7 February 2012

A last minute Google search led us to Kiltearn House. Absolutely lovely hosts and fantastic food. The house itself is beautiful and the surroundings brought all the peace we were after. Best weekend break we've ever had. We will be back as soon as possible.

Room Tip: Kingsize and super king have views across the Firth.

I stayed here whilst working in the area. Both my collegue and I can do no more than agree with the previous reviews of this establishmnet. The rooms were clean and fresh the food was excellent and the owners could not have been nicer. We had to start work early in the morning and Ed assured us that an early breakfast was no problem. (This was an unusual and welcome change from most hotels). The house has bags of character that has not been spoilt with the conversion to a hotel. The views accross the loch from my room were spectacular. If you are in the area this is one not to be missed.

First time to this very personable B&B. Hosts Ed and Nel couldn't have done more to make our stay such a warm, comfortable, welcoming stay. I even got a hug on arrival from Nel as I had been delayed with a flat tyre and arrived somewhat windswept and dishevelled.
The food was delightful , we had breakfast both days and evening meal once - more than enough and great quality.

Room Tip: Front bay window suite very romantic - view of the water

What a lovely weekend we have just enjoyed at Kiltearn House.
The former manse is found at the end of a quiet country lane close by the now closed Kiltearn Church
It is on the shores of the Cromarty Firth and just over a mile from the village of Evanton
Our host greeted us warmly with tea and biscuits in the fantastic residents lounge. and both he and his wife continued to be friendly and attentive throughout our visit
The house is really clean and beautifully decorated with lots of quirky ornaments paintings etc scattered around to keep one amused

Our room was really nice with a small but very well appointed shower en-suite
Everything you would expect from a high class establishment was included -a good variety of tea coffee etc on the hospitality tray. A lovely touch was the vase of fresh flowers.

The breakfast was excellent with a cooked breakfast which you preordered the night before( I can highly recommend both the haggis and black pudding from a local prize winning butcher) and a good selection of cereals juices etc. Very impressed with the freshly prepared fruit salad containing my personal favourite blueberries

The guest house operates an honesty bar whereby you take a drink and write down what you have taken but mine host was more than happy to serve us personally and to tell us about the local malt whiskies. The drinks were reasonably priced.

Evening meals are available but we preferred to eat out.

I can personally recommend both the Skiach Services and the Storehouse of Foulis for decent fresh cooked food.

There are lots of walks and little characterful towns and villages in the surrounding area as well as Inverness if you are looking for a good shopping centre.

I can thoroughly recommend Kiltearn House -you will enjoy a great stay and come away feeling very spoiled. Really hope to stay there again in the future
