We only had two nights at Palazzo Brandano as part of a long weekend taking in Pisa and Florence and were treated royally by Osmaune, the manager and staff, who couldn't do enough for us. Not sure who the recent returning reviewer was referring to but it certainly didn't fit Osmaune's description. We were upgraded to the Executive Suite at no extra cost on arrival, given a complimentary bottle of our favourite wine on departure as we had no remaining time to organise a tour of the winery and inbetween had the most fantastic food served to us outside overlooking the lovely landscape both evenings. Osmaune advised us where to visit each day and the places were just lovely-this is a very quiet location and a fabulous place to come back to and be looked after royally following a day exploring the area's natural beauty. The thick walls in the bedrooms mean that internet doesn't work in the rooms but it is fine downstairs in the lobby which acts as a little wifi meeting place! However, to be concerned about an internet connection in the bedroom is really to miss the point of where one is staying and the magnificence of it all! Highly recommended!

Room Tip: The Executive Suite is the only room with a balcony but all rooms looked great from what we could see.

This was our first visit to Tuscany and we found Palazzo Brandano through Tripadvisor. We are very pleased with our decision. The Palazzo is a beautiful small hotel in Petroio, a lovely hill-top village. The welcome we were given by Ousmane, the Palazzo's manager, could not have been friendlier - prosecco on the terrace as the sun set over the hills. We stayed (June 2012) for 5 very comfortable nights and ate at the Palazzo on 3 evenings. The meals were delicious and enhanced by Ousmane's excellent wine recommendations. His recommendations on how best to explore the Tuscan countryside and where to eat in neighbouring towns were invaluable. The Palazzo and Ousmane ensured we had an unforgettably delightful introduction to Tuscany. One small tip: parking is easy if you leave your car in the free public car park at the entrance to Petroio.

We didn't know what to expect when we got to this hotel. We had read all the reviews and felt it was a good choice based on the location. We were truly blown away by the level of service from the staff including Lisa and Angela and particularly enjoyed all our interactions with the manager, Osmon. We felt that he took great care of us and that he took great pride in making sure that all his guests had a great experience. Osmon would help us each morning figure out our driving itinerary and give us recommendations on great sites to visit. One thing that I was extremely surprised by was the fine dining at the restaurant at the Brandano. As a rustic inn, you would expect rustic dining however this was far from the case. We ended up eating there 3 out of 4 nights and tasted practically everything on the menu--not one thing is bad! With excellent wine pairing suggestions from Osmon. Osmon even arranged for us to meet the chef and learn how to she prepares her fantastic gnocchi dish! The one suggestion I would have for the Brandano is to improve the quality of their mattresses. That said, the bedrooms are nice--we stayed in the Leonardo da Vinci suite. The room is rustic and overlooks great views of the patio/valley and narrow stone paved front street; however, the bathrooms are modern. We truly had an enjoyable experience and would recommend the Palazzo Brandano.

We stayed at Palazzo Brandano Several years ago and we fell in love with this place so we decided to go back this year and stay 3 nights... What a big change and disappointment. The place is being run by a gentleman by the name of Osmon, who just did not care this time around. he was disorganized and uninterested in his guests. The sheets and towel are grey and wrinkled the little extras that were there on are first trip are gone.... the TV did not work, two of four rooms had issues with the bathrooms.... He was supposed to prepare and birthday dinner for us for 10 people which turned out to be a big flop the food was unedible and took 5 hours. He was not very grasious about it. He became confrontational with one of my guests. it was just a horrible experience... They need new managment.......

Room Tip: Go to La Locanda del' Lamorosa down the street. its fabulous...

We traveld aroudn Tuscany for a couple of weeks and enjoyed a number of very nice hotels. Palazzao Brandano however was a class in itself. Set in a beatiful old building in a very small town close to both Montepulicano and Montalcino. The rooms/suits are really very nice and comfortable. There is a great view from the terras. As it is a bit out of the way and because of his there is some dependency on the restaurant of the hotel but this turned out to be just as good as the hotel itself. Very well nicely prepared tasty food and a good wine choice. The service under the direction of Mr. Ousman is outstanding.
