Good for: View, Local cuisine
Dining options: After-hours, Reservations
Description: Finely restored, the restaurant is located at the entrance of the small hamlet of Agriturismo Montalbino. The interior is extremely attractive: in the main dining room the eye rests, on one side, on the open roasting pit protected by a large window surrounded by the words of a typical Tuscan recipe written on the wall, on the other, through a large window the view stretches as far as the hills and the valley of Montalbino. Whatever the occasion “La Lombricaia” will allow to taste the flavours of Tuscany directly at our tables.

We had a delicious meal at La Lomricaia, and an entertaining evening as we do not speak Italian and the waiter made it so much fun. A must finish with the Grappa!

Unfortunately we have to agree with the last two reviews. The view and watching the sun set was the highlight of the meal. The kids also enjoyed the playground and trampoline. The food was ok at best and the service poor. We arrived at 7pm with our two small children and ordered right away. We also asked to have their hamburger brought right away, as they were hungry. It took another 45 minutes for the appetizers and wine to come.
The "hamburger" did not arrive until the second course and it was a joke. The patty was about 4 cm in diameter and came with about 20 fries from the freezer. Even our 7 year old daughter was disappointed. We had expected a lot more from am 8 Euro hamburger. All in all our 3 course meal lasted over 2 hours and the kids were so tired that we skipped dessert. If the playground had not been there it would have been a catastrophe.
There are so many great places to eat in the area, that this was a real disappointment. Apparently the head chef is on vacation, sick or has left the restaurant.

We ate in that restaurant tonight. In was recommended to us in the property we are staking for our holiday (about 10 km away). First of all to het there was aan experience of its kind - a very narrow and dark road.
Secondly, it was their service - obviously they realize they are serving tourists and very few, if any will ever get back.
Finally, their food - starting from the far from fresh bread, mozzarella that could have been better or a worse carpaccio that we ever proven, and ended with a pork that didn't look very tasty, didn't smell or taste that way either.
We love Italy and are fans of the Italian food - come here for years. That was onze of our poorest experiences ever, I ma afraid. We won't rush back.... The view was the only good experience indeed.

Inspired by some great past lunch experiences, we went there for dinner. Feeling lucky that we got a front row table on the terrace with the panoramic view, we soon came to realise that only this - the view - was the highlight this evening.
The turnout on the evening was a mix of guests staying at the holiday houses and guests from the outside like us. When ordering, we learned that the night before there had been more than 100 guests and our waiter had been working overtime until 2am to cope with the demand. Our evening turned out to be a disaster thanks to this obvious under-staffing. This led to our dinner being served with an interval of 30 minutes from first to last person being served, the side orders for the secondo being served 15 minutes prior the main cause, the wine order being totally messed up, and an overall very slow and poor service. Food quality this evening also below expectations (e.g. overcooked pasta), but surely influenced by the same underlying issue as the service.
Under the current management, we can not recommend anybody to visit this beautifully located restaurant. With the mix of in-house/external guests, it is incomprehensible that planning can not be done in such a way that adequate staff is on hand to cope with the demand.
One point for location. For all the rest: Shape up - we know it's possible to do a lot better !
