Description: The history of La Ferriera started in the middle of the 18th Century. The stone arch at the entrance of the Residence dates back to 1875. The original use of La Ferriera, as the name suggests, was as an iron works, making agricultural equipment such as spades and ploughs that were used in the region. The original factory stood where apartment 19 stands today, and the original factory chimneys are seen on the roof. The factory was located to use the power of La Ciuffenna River. At the end of 1800 the building was sold to the Brogi family.. The new property was built in 1905 and housed flour working and the textile production. In order to improve production, the owner installed an electric turbine, which until 1930 was also able to give electricity to the entire town of Loro Ciuffenna. In 1969 all productionn stopped and the property was acquired by another local family for private use.In 1996 after several years of being abandoned, the property was acquired by Rampi family.

With our stay at LA Ferriera Residence, we included daily breakfast and dinner
ar their restaurant. Food is good but not spectacular. They offer a cooking class with the chef at 50 euro but I wasn't that impressed by him so I decided to save my money. The breakfast is exactly the same everyday. No variety, basic European continental ( way too much pastries, Bread and sugar for this health conscious Cali girl, but it's all part of the experience.

Expensive for what you actually got. Service was fine. Did not try their breakfast. Quiet and pleasant.

We loved our Half Board meal plan with our timeshare exchange. The staff was very knowledgeable and they have a wonderfully large wine list.

Stayed at the La Ferriera for a week and ate at the resort's restaurant each night. Four course dinners were excellent, very rich, authentic, and the service was impeccable! With the half board meal program, there was a choice between two items per course. So....great positives; the negatives were that the half board was mandatory, but we were made aware of it prior to arrival. Additionally, the half board program was a little pricey!

You make reservations at this restaurant located next to the check in for the hotel. There is a small wine store that is at the top of the stairs that leads to the restaurant below. Your number is on the assigned table and depending on your plan, different menus are provided. We heard the soup was excellent and that other items were good. We did not have the meal plan so missed out on this. The food was traditional and the noodle choice I had was so different that I liked the change with the cream sauce in the middle but I would not order it again. This was not my cup of team, and my favorite item was the house wine. Please try it yourself and let me know what you think. We stayed at the hotel 3 days and did not try it after the first night's visit.
