We have travelled to the lakes for the last 5 years now so this review will take two parts, firstly the hotel and restaurant, then village and lake.

Cannot recommend this hotel enough, Friendly and welcoming, very helpful. The room was excellent, well presented and the hotel as a whole was a lovely experience.

We ate in the hotel on the first night for ease and investigated other restaurants on tripadvisor as for some reason this restaurant didn't score that high. Well something is wrong here, the restaurant was superb, the young chef presents the food with an exceptional level of flavour and visual delight, we also consider the value of food and wine list to be in the right bracket and hence excellent value for money.

Now for the village and lake, having visited the majority of villages during our trip, we really struck gold with Salo, perfect location, quiet, yet large enough to keep more than entertained, there is regular live performers of an evening and the walk through "town" is lovely.

To say we were disappointed with Lake Garda would be an understatement, too large and way too commercial for our liking, the ferries do not run regularly enough and so when the 45min to 1hr journey times are taken into account, not much can be achieved, there is also a lack of villas and gardens etc to visit.

Bottom line, Highly recommend Salo, and the hotel to which we shall return 100% just not that bothered about the lake when compared to Como, Maggiore etc.

This property had the best and most helpful staff. The hotel restaurant had a great menu and the food was marvelous. Sits right on the lake with great access to Salo and local shopping/restaurants.

Our room was very comfortable and clean. Even when there was an issue the hotel staff responded immediately with a guest friendly solution.

This was our second visit (5 years since the first) and we enjoyed this stay as much as our first. Nowhere can better the friendly and efficient service by staff here. It has set a benchmark by which other stays in Italy have struggled to match in terms of staff, location and proximity in walking distance to lovely bars and restaurants in town and along the 'lungolago'.
We had a problem with our room which the management sought to rectify immediately.
A previous reviewer has said that the rooms need updating and the mattresses are saggy. We had a most comfortable bed and a lovely room.
The selection on offer at breakfast is still excellent, as was dinner in the hotel restaurant. I'm sure we'll be back!

Room Tip: Book a room with a view or partial view of the lake. The cheapest rooms facing the road look small and tired.

I really love this hotel and keep on coming back for more or less 10 years. It perfectly fits my needs at Salò. The location is great but the best thing about the Bellerive is the staff. They are fabulous. Everybody is smiling, kind and very attentive. But the rooms! Oh my god, they are so outdated. The mattresses are sagging like hammocks. And most of the bathrooms seem to be from the seventies. I hate it when I take a shower and have to fight of a wet shower curtain, trying to hug me.
TO THE MANAGEMENT: Please update your rooms & bathrooms! It's really time to do so. I really love you people and don't want to look for another place.

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel from the 13th - 19th June 2017. I chose it after reading the great reviews on trip advisor. I wanted something a bit special as it was my girlfriend’s first time to Italy and this hotel did not disappoint.

The hotel had pre arranged a transfer from the nearest train station Desenzano, approx 30minutes away, after I had emailed them about how we were going to get there from Verona.

The check in was swift and very friendly with lots of staff on hand to help with our bags. Once settled in our spectacular Lake view room the barman delivered us a delicious chilled rose wine with bar snacks and a welcome note, which we drank whilst sitting out on our balcony overlooking the harbour. This was a very nice customer service touch.
Our room was spacious, clean and had all of the home comforts you want. The double doors opened out onto our balcony with stunning lake views.

Our first night of trying to dry our hair with the hairdryer in the bathroom which was more like the end of a hoover was not great. It took hours and our hair was not properly dry. We asked the receptionist the next morning if they had any hand held hairdryers and a really good one was delivered to our room immediately. Again fantastic service.

The pool area is idillic. It was always quiet with bar service whilst you sunbathed. The pool itself was really clean and refreshing and a good size to do a little bit of swimming if you wanted to do a few lengths. The sun loungers were rediculously comfy as the covers were really well padded and there were always plenty of clean towels.

The food at the hotel was excellent. We had breakfast there daily and never got bored as there was a great variety. There was lots of fruit, yogurt, cereal, meats, cheeses and pastries. We only realised on our penultimate day that you can also ask for any type of egg or bacon from the waiters along with fresh orange juice. They are all delicious so ask as the hot breakfast food is not laid out it’s made to order.
We also had a lunch in the hotel and an evening meal both of which were delicious and had fantastic presentation.

The hotel is in a brilliant location overlooking the harbour with a couple of small shingle beach areas to the right of the hotel along the promenade. The promenade is directly outside the hotel gates and if you turn left and walk approximately 5 - 10 minutes you are in the main town. There is an abundance of cafes, restaurants and bars most with al fresco dining. It is a lovely place to explore and has plenty of places to choose from so you won’t have to go to the same restaurants during your stay.

This was an incredible hotel, with the staff making it extra special and could not do enough for us during our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of going to this beautiful area. I would say it is more adult friendly and was quite a romantic hotel, we didn’t see any children there.

Room Tip: We stayed i room 203 which was great.
