The bush plane from Kampala took us to Murchison Falls and Baker's Lodge (named after explorers Samuel Baker and his 19 yr old wife). The open lodge looks out on the Nile - - with glimpses of hippos. But they do come out at night - so we stay in our cottage - 4 ft up on stilts. Very nice swimming pool with shade covering for lounging, and dining tables are continually moved to romantic settings. Great food and just 15 minutes to cross the ferry to Murchison Falls Park and all the game animals (saw giraffes, lions, elephants, cape buffalo, kob, and more). Staff at Baker's Lodge were fabulous, more than accommodating and they served good tasty cocktails. Bernard, the manager is a gem and their aim is for your happiness and comfort!

We stayed at bakers lodge in murchison falls for 3 nights and loved the location, service and style of the lodge. The staff are really friendly and look after you really well. The packed lunch and coffee to take out on safari is nice. The lodge is right on the edge of the water and so the hippos come up close to the rooms. Nice swimming pool!

Very unprofessional reservations team. My booking was confirmed by telephone, but no reply on several emails during 10 days. Eventually, when I called again 2 days before departure, they said the rooms were not available. It became very hard for us to find an alternative at that point. Not recommended.

Baker's Lodge is a luxury lodge so our expectations were very high. And it was one of the best lodges we stayed in during our trip through Uganda! Service and friendliness of the staff was excellent, choice of lunch and dinner very good with an vegetarian option. Soft drinks and beer were included. And of course a perfect setting at the Nile. Boat trips (Murchison falls and Baker Delta) started at the Lodge so we had no travelling time, only thing is that for game drives we had to cross a river with a ferry so it takes some time before we could start our game drives and the last sail is at 19.00. You don't want to miss that. We had a wonderful stay at the lodge, two minor things: the fan on the ceiling was not sufficient as it was very warm (even during the night) and the chairs on de veranda almost fell apart. Some deckchairs would have made it perfect.

Room Tip: We stayed in cottage number 4, very quiet. Do you want hippo's in the middle of the night? Choose cottage 7 or higher.

Baker’s, and it's sister lodge at Ishasha are two of my favorite places to stay in Uganda. The food is fabulous. The ambiance and service is unparalleled. It is situated right on the Nile which ensures plenty of wildlife viewing. The only down side is that you have to take the ferry across to do game drives in the park. However, Baker's is worth it. I could stay here for weeks!
