Three families totaling 13 people stayed here for a week in August. Everyone loved the place: the house itself, infinity pool, beach and paddle boards and kayaks, and amenities. But it is remote which was fine with us. Each family rented a car which made leaving the compound easier but the roads in and out are rough and full of potholes. The disappointment was in the lack of Internet service. We had three days with nothing unless we left and went to a nearby hotel. Most of the other time it was very intermittent with it mostly not working. Future renters should be aware of this situation rather than as the owner represents it.
The area and the house are both charming. The infinity pool and shuffleboard are great, as is the snorkeling nearby.
Although the owner insists that the wifi/internet works well with only 1 hour outage per day, the reality we lived was over 50% of the time we had poor or no service. And no cell phone coverage anywhere near the house or in a 10 minute drive radius. So, a great place to get a away from it all!
We chose to fish with Mino one day, and caught nothing. I regretted not having chosen a more expensive option but with a shared risk price (small charge if you catch nothing).
I don't even know how to start writing about what an amazing time we spent at Casa Cardonal! My Mom had a stroke two years ago and was diagnosed with vascular dementia with a terminal diagnosis. Our family wanted to celebrate with her one last time. We wanted a sanctuary to soak in all the love we have for her. We were a family of 9 people and the staff at Casa Cardonal quickly became part of our family. Octavio the driver picked us up and immediately took care of all our needs. Mom was in a wheelchair and the Casa was perfect for her to get around in. Francesca had a Mexican buffet waiting for us when we arrived. It was the best food we have ever experienced in Mexico. Maria tended to all our needs and kept the house spotless. We ate all meals there and each one was fantastic and different! Mino took us out fishing and we caught our limit in Dorado and trigger fish for ceviche. Octavio took us to Cabo for the day and it was perfect in every way! He arranged for shopping, water taxi's and we stopped for lunch at a spot for sushi that was the best we have ever had! even stopped for fresh coconuts that we sipped and then snacked on the way back to the Casa. We lit lanterns off the beach in memory of past loved ones and wishes for Mom. Francesca made the most amazing birthday cake and we celebrated my sisters birthday. It was all like a dream come true. I cannot say enough kind words about this place and the people there. We were never bored! swimming Jacuzzi massages Kayaks snorkeling fishing ping pong shuffle boards paddle boards and a car to take into town for snacks and groceries! Thank you Mike for allowing us to stay at your home. It was truly perfect in every way. We feel blessed and honored to have had such an amazing trip!
