Had read great reviews about this bar. Really looking forward to the "welcome and craic". Big disappointment neither appeared. Seems like a pub with a local Irish clientele which doesn't need "new" customers

Hello All

Here I ma again raving on about Alvor while hubby's watching the football! There are 3/4Irish bars in Alvor but, in my opinion even though its the smallest Hickey's Bar is the best. No music or slot machines (yes there are TV's to show the sport) and you don't need them as tis a cracking bar for a few drinks and a chat. The bar staff are efficient and friendly, the wine and beer are lovely, all the customers are chatty and Pat Hickey (the landlord) is a lovely man. You don't have to be Irish to drink there people will talk to you any way. Its a small bar and very very popular so if you cant get in on your first attempt try again, its worth the effort. Cheers from Ruby & John

Made feel very welcome by Pat and Dave in Hickeys. Great pub for atmosphere which usually ends up with a sing song. Well worth a visit even if its just to browse through the many photos on the wall of all the old bands (see how many you recognise). We'll definitely be back.

What a night it was, stayed until 4am and it was still rocking.
Dont go until about 12/1am but do not go to Alvor without going! There was a guy on the guitar all night and loads of people singing. Incredible atmosphere, warm Irish welcome from a lovely Limerick man who looked after us with a taxi at the end of the night outside the door and even some golf balls as a memento! Super lillte spot.
