Description: pitena by vito restaurant there for 40 years, nestled in the Tuscan countryside with private parking, a children's playground and plenty of space, with about 130 seats inside and 200 outside. Director Vito offers a variety of typical Tuscan specialties, like the classic Florentine, roasts, and especially the game, but delicious menu of fish with small pizzeria, along with more traditional local and Italian wine labels

Recommended by the tourist kiosk on Sunday when most everything else was closed. Place was packed but service was still pretty prompt, with Vito himself waiting on us. Ravioli was second best we had during our week in Tuscany and the pappardelle al cinghiale was so good we went back a second time so I could order. Simple and down-home Tuscan food in a very relaxed atmosphere (either outside or in).

We went to Pitena twice. The staff and owner were really friendly. The prices are very good compared to many other places in the area. We had various tuscan appetizers, all very tasty. And a risotto that was very good, and a ravioli that was savoury. The best was the service. So friendly towards the children. And we actually forgot our credit card. Called the next day, it was there. The friendly waitress had gone out of her way to try to get in touch with us, not easy for them to trace us! I would recommend this quiet and nice place! Simple and good homecooking!

Under a beautiful and fresh small oasis of oaks, among the magnificant surround of Chianti Aretino. Pitena is the typical pit-stop trattoria where everything is easy but very, very good.
If you're looking for something simple and homely familiar, Pitena is the right spot.
Fiorentina shown by Vito before you order it and cooked just in front of your eyes, assure you a pleasant, unformal and relaxing dinner.
I suggest Piena if you want to stay away from typical tourists places, where protocols of hospitality and accommodation looks often the same all around the world...
Pitena is absolutely simple and truly genuine, interesting because it brings you straight into the local culture...

What to say? We had lunch there; the food was simple and quite average as far as preparation was concerned. As in most places in Italy, they place cheap white bread on the table and this is billed as a 'cover charge' which was quite expensive especially considering that in this case we're talking about cheap store-bought bread that was stale to boot. I had an antpasto which was quite good (mussels in broth) and my wife had an oily but otherwise very tasty primo piatti of pasta. The mains were a deception, however: overcooked food that was sloppily prepared. One of the contorni (grilled zucchini) was burnt to a dark crisp, one other clearly was reheated fare from a can. On top of that it was quite expensive and frankly bad value for money. Cavrigli is a small locale that offers very little in terms of quality cuisine, certainly for those wanting to break away from the ubiquitous 'typical' local Tuscan dishes but if you're willing to drive for 10 minutes there are better options available.
