By our standards this was a good 3 star hotel. But the cost matched 3 star. The food at breakfast had good variety / quality and the evening meal was satisfactory. The carvery was kept well stocked by the staff with a few short delays occasionally in restocking. The hotel is situated in a steep sided narrow wooded valley so it wasn't the lightest hotel, the rooms at the back looked straight out onto a wooded hillside and low natural light. Our room was clean, comfortable and basically fitted out, the bathroom looked recently refurbished. Only German TV channels. The hotel isn't fully international, the hotel info / directory in the room was written in German but no English. Reception staff all spoke excellent English, other staff less so. The hotel is in easy walking distance of the lovely village of Monschau and all of its facilities. Monschau is near the Eiffel National Park.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quiet but darker than those at the front which overlooks the road beyond ther...

This is a wonderful hotel offering good old fashioned German hospitality in modern surroundings. The staff were incredibly efficient and friendly and the food was superb.

This hotel says it is four star but I do not agree. I have stayed at many three star hotels that are far superior. There are no tea making facilities and at 2 euros 20 for a minute bottle of water you could end up thirsty. The hotel is very dark due to its position but the staff are friendly and the food is good.

Room Tip: Don't have a room at the back as you will feel like a mole after a few days. I noticed the germa...

Part of a group, mainly couples, on half board. Nice modern comfortable hotel in a 200yr old building. Rooms very clean, light and airy: those at front overlooking car park & towards town, noise from fast flowing river can be intrusive at night; rear rooms overlooking dense trees on hill immediately behind hotel but very quiet! Room cold on some nights as heating not on. Staff very friendly & speak good English. Buffet breakfast & dinner excellent - so many choices made overeating very easy! Small buffet lunch available in the bar; good value at under €6. Only 5mins walk down cobbled hill into town - very pretty tudor-style buildings with many cafés and souvenir shops. The Glashaus craft complex at the far end of town is worth visiting: lots of crystal items, toys, model railway shop & exhibition, souvenirs, etc. & café beside an indoor fish pond. Good location for exploring the area: about 10miles to national park & lakes (1½hr boat trips very popular or just sit outside a café & admire the views!). We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is situated up a steep hill about 500m from the town (village) centre. It offers facilities that will appeal to groups who wish to holiday in the Eifel, e.g.walkers, cyclists, bikers, coach parties, etc. It has a pool and spa facilities that are welcome at the end of a day outdoors. It has car park in a town where parking is difficult at busy times. We found the rooms and common parts clean and functional, but with little charm. Breakfasts and dinners were taken buffett style with a wide choice of dishes; buffett meals will appeal to some, but not everyone. Our dinner, bed & breakfast at Eu104 per couple per night was good value.
