Booked the hotel a couple of months ago as it showed up under a listing of hotels in Berlin, checked the "Koppernickerstr." on a map of Berlin and found out that it looked close to everything.

Except that the hotel was not in Berlin but in a small village outside Berlin where a similar named street could be found... I know, my fault, should have seen that when booking, but when an hotel advertises itself as "Berlin" I expect it to be in Berlin, not 1 hour by train outside of it!

When I found out my mistake I tried to cancel the hotel but that was due to our rates impossible. So we tried to make the best of it. Arrived in Berlin with a lot of bags, got off on a train station somewhere near the hotel to find out that there was no transportation available. So a long walk through the rain followed. Later we found out that there is a limited bus service to another trainstation and next day we made use of it. However, in the weekend there are only 4 (FOUR!) busses per day, limiting your travel to/from the city of Berlin.

The hotel itself was ok, however we could not use the restaurant because of a large group of travellers had booked it. The only other option is a rather average Chineese restaurant 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Near the hotel are no facilities at all, no supermarkets, nothing!

As we lost too much time with travelling (3 hours/day hours including walking, busses. etc to/from the city center) we decided to leave the hotel after 2 days. No refund possible, sad money, but it was just way, way too far away.

This hotel should get rid of the name "Berlin" in its name as it is misleading!

1. Sleep quality is bad. Because the rooms are too hot in summer. They dont have any ac or ventilation. You will suffocate there.
2. The only window in the room does not help in making the room cool. In fact it brings a lot of light which will not let you sleep. The rooms are not light proof.
3. The room was clean but not smell proof. Smoking smell was there.
4. The worst thing is location. It is not in Berlin. It is in a different city. A drive of 40 minutes from major attractions in Berlin.

Before you book this or another hotel, it's always interesting to look to the location: this hotel is located in not in Berlin, just like Hahn isn't Frankfurt!
It's a good location if you need to be in Friedrichshagen or Köpenick and only if you have a car, but the restaurant is overpriced and you also need the car to find a real, nice German restaurant: you just have the choise of the restaurant in the hotel or a Chinese restaurant in the neighbours.
Breakfast, included in the price, is very good: big choise of many items of good quality.
Rooms are not bad, but there is no airco available, but it's possible to sleep with open windows and it helps a little bit.
It's in fact a typical hotel that is used for big groups. It's really not bad, but don't pay too much for it and don't use it if you don't have your own car. Public transport is relatively rare.

The Hoppegarten is the worst hotel I've ever been to. Photographs of the spa is from when the hotel is new, but today it seems nothing of what was to be there, broken and old, and yet they would have paid for entrance to the spa, stupid!

Room Tip: The worst hotel I've ever been to. ALL !!!
