Visited from january 1. till january 13. Th 2018. The hotel staff gave us the best of service from the very first moment. Shuttleboat: very good.
Room: very nice and clean. The bed is big and firm.
Hotel: has only 16 rooms, so very quiet and nice staff.
Pool: Nice refreshing eternity-pool.
Beac: sometimes some litter, depending on the wind. Otherwhise clean and private!

The most terrible service in my life: I ordered a papaya salad, a simple plate, specifying ‘no spicy’. The salad was too spicy that was uneatable. I asked for changing it and 2 minutes later they brought me the same salad! I complained again and the waiter smiled, acting as nothing happened! After the bill, the same waiter saw me really upset and while I was exiting he screamed with ironic tone: ‘too spicy’!

The food is good, but overpriced!

We were staying in ocean view deluxe rooms with twin beds for 2 nights. The room was clean and cozy. There were two pillows per bed which I really like it. There was another small bed by the window, which is very lovely. The staff were very friendly. One of the staff take us to the bike rental shop. The breakfast was very good. You can order as much as you want. The food was good but very spicy. The cocktails were fantastic. I love "Ploy samed"(cocktail), which is their signature. We rent private speed boat from the hotel for our diving trip. The crews were friendly. One of them took us to the beautiful view point at Koh Talu, which is breathtaking view.
I love this hotel and if I have a chance I will choose to stay in this hotel again for sure.

What can i say about the Baan Ploy Sea ? Well lets start with the negatives , only a few .
The restaurant : 1 of the staff really annoyed me ......not easy to do .....I have have lived in Thailand for 12 years .....I speak Thai .....But on arrival on the 1st night this guy corrected my Thai ...I said "hello" ...But in a very abrubt way .....THEN when we asked for the menu (yes asked ) he gave us just the western food choice ....When my wife who is Thai asked for the Thai menu ....he said , in Thai , Can HE eat Thai food ? ...THEN when we ordered ....he then said ....THATS IT ! just two dishes ?
I found another waiter , and told him , i did NOT want this man serving me ......He disappaered .....
And that ladies and Gentleman is the ONLY problem we had ...

rooms : Lovely , well designed , yes basic style , no wardrobe , but plenty of hanging space . Large clean bathroom ....some might like a brighter room ...Our room was 102 , very close to the pool ....but no noise .....a few guests and kids during the day ,,,but nothing to complain about . LARGE comfortable bed with good strong air con .

Hotel : right on a small strip of beach , when we arrived it was high tide ...no beach...but a lovely sound of gentle crashing waves . The pool is on a terrace overlooking the beach and bay ....The odd waif of diesel fumes came a couple of times from the speedboat service station done the beach .

Staff : Very friendly ( not the waiter ) Checkin was ultra smooth and fast . Checkin starts at the Pier ......Like a airport VIP lounge for the private boat . Best toilets in the world !! ....Smooth transfer to the boat , calm sailling to a private pier , away from the main tourist dock , a short stroll to the hotel and a cool welcome drink . Formallities sorted and in room within 10 minutes of docking ....11:55pm ....2 hrs BEFORE official checkin time !
Housekeeping : lovely ladies ,,,,, it was my birthday and they surprised me with a little gift .....nice touch .....we returned the surprise when we left .....(see photos)

Food : a little expensive ,but good . Not too sure about the lamminated A3 menu cards ....would expected a printed menu ...Cocktails good and strong .
Breakfast : This was a bit of a strange affair . Advertised as Buffet , but when we arrived 1st morning , all that was on the buffet table was oj , water and milk , with choice of two cereals and some fruit . But once we sat down . The waitress presented us with another laminated A4 sheets with photos of various foods....choose what you want .... This seemd odd , but my wife asked why like this ....Chinese Tourists ! ....When they had free / tabled buffet they would pile plates of food , go back to their tables , eat only third , damage a third , and leave the perfectly good , but unusable food to waste . This way controls the food and less waste . You could order anything you like from the menu and as many times ......we did !

Location : Perfect for a quiet get away ......small road in front of hotel . Go right , pass a small local shop . Basics shampoo , snacks etc . A couple of small restaurants and a german beer garden ....road some more bends ...to a nice coffee/bar location on a nice cove . Further on past some quite high end resort s you come too a small seclude beach ...about a 15 mins walk .
To the left of hotel is the main road in to the heart of the island ......the noise !
Took us about 20 minutes to walk to the 1st main , overcrowded , noisy beach Sai Kaiew ....You can hire motocylces ....but its an easy walk .
Overall : We wanted a quiet , getaway holiday in a nice hotel ...and thats what we got !

Room tip: next to pool . easy access . However if you are a light sleeper , the sound of the waves can be a little noisy

We visited this hotel in beginning of April. The hotel is located approx 2 hrs drive from BKK airport in Rayong province, and another 10mins ferry across to the island (Koh Samed) from Siree pier. Approaching the hotel on a ferry is very dramatic, hotel on a small stretch on white sandy beach, national forest making the background of it.
The hotel is literally made out of hard wood, perfect for being on a Thai island that is preserved as a national park. You have to pay the entry fee on arrival but if your are staying on the hotel then you are exempt.
The hotel has very clean room, a bit on dark lighting for some, but we found it adequate (lighting in shower room can be improved especially for the ladies who apply make up), nice view of the sea and pool from the room. The tea/coffee facilities are provided along with the basics. The only drawback for some is that here are hardly any cupboard so basically living out of a suitcase.
The hotel has a restaurant, beautiful Thai style that serves very good Thai food with friendly staff, always there to please you. There are a couple of shops nearby and to hire a scooter/moped. The main beach of the island Sai Kaew is only 20mins walk from the hotel and we loved the walk as well as white sandy beach, full of life, water sports and cafes/bar etc. We also hired a moped and went around the island and found west beach of the island in front of Aao Prao hotel, fantastic, calm sea with colourful fishes and enjoyed the snorkeling.
The staff overall is polite and friendly always smiling, just a bit of language barrier causes few issues, but then google translation is always at hand as they also offer good wifi.
We had a really good stay and recommend this hotel/island to all.
Antique cafe on island's main street was fab, enjoyed the cold coffee. You will find lots of cafes, 7 elevens, restaurant and other shops. Island taxi is also available at a set cost.

The only slight issue we had was that we had booked on Half-Board basis thru our travel agent, only to find out hotel did not cater for half-board and was offered set breakfast menu (very repetitive) and offered 1 dish each for the dinner with no starters and a scoop of ice cream for us after paying a lot of money to a UK travel agent, that wasn't communicated to them either but no one compensated us as we had to share 5 dishes between 5 people that also included rice or noodle as a main dish?? I think hotel should make it clear to their booking agents.

Apart from that we had a lovely stay, just be careful of the urchin stings at hotel beach but main Sai Kaew beach was good as gold.

Would have given excellent if half-board was offered after paying for it.....

Room tip: All face pool & sea
