The good part about this resort is that it is bang on the beach. This in itself makes MTDC a better choice compared to many of the other home stays nearby.

Pros:
- Rooms located next to the beach
- Rooms are not as large as the MTDC resort in Ganpatipule
- Mitbhavkar canteen serves decent food but service is slow
- Larger property than nearby hotels / home stays

Cons
- More expensive than other hotels and home stays nearby
- There are some boat house shaped rooms but they are on the beach and are expensive

The hotel guys will assist in case you need a pick-up from the station or to tours nearby.

The location is amazing! Right next to the beach with 4 shacks available for the occupants of the resort. However, the shacks were very ill maintained. The sheets were soiled, the toilets were dirty and the service was pathetic. You could see that this was a government managed location where the people working were not at all bothered to provide adequate customer service. Complaints were received with a very high handed attitude and certain comments made towards the ladies in the group were quite offensive. Paid Rs 1500 per night but the services were far below the standards. Some nearby home stays were much better maintained at half the cost.

Food tasted good at the resort but hygiene is much desired for. Flies in the juice and hair in the food.

Request for beach beds were denied even though there were at least 50 beds folded and kept in a corner. The shacks were not cleaned and dogs defecating in the shacks in the morning were not cleaned the entire day. Although they say the beach next to the resort is "private" (which I highly doubt), no effort was made to clean it over the two days that we stayed there for even after complaints.

All in all, if the resort could improve its service and hygiene, it can be one of the best places to stay in Tarkarli. But a lot still is desired for.

Our MTDC house boat stay for 2 nights was a good experience. Every morning we set off along the backwaters to a place called Sangam point (where the river meets the sea), set anchor for an hour and were served breakfast. Then we got back by 10 am and again set off post noon. This time we set anchor for 3-4 hours and were served lunch in the backwaters. Being on a boat, on still waters, eating gorgeous fish fry, eating lovely dal, sabji, 'koshimbir', sol kadi and then snoozing off to wake up to a setting sun is a wonderful and unusual experience for sure. Around evening we returned to the shore and set anchor for the night. The inky blue, starlit night is the next wonderful part of this stay. Look out for the amazing, clear sky and its various hues in Tarkarli.
The rooms are small and comfy for just 2 ppl. Don't fall for the 3rd bed option as it is available but can get a lil cramped. The food we had was fabulous maharshtrian fare. The cook is good so he can do a good job with most regular requests too. Overall, not at all spiffy but an unsual experience.
The beach is just 3-4 mins away on the other side and a must visit place because of clean, blue waters and marine creatures.

Room tip: The rooms are big enough for just 2 ppl. A 3rd person might get cramped.

Pro's
- Rooms are located next to the beach

Cons
- Aweful, terrible rooms, need a complete makeover, need to be cleaned thoroughly..etc
- Hard to find as its very much in the interiors
- No room service
- Rats!

If you are looking to rough it up this place is bearable but if you are looking for a warm, welcome and luxurious stay avoid this place, you maybe better off driving 100 miles down to Goa where there are plenty of better options and clean beaches

Room tip: Try and look at a few rooms before you stay in them, although most are bad anyways..
