“A little bit of Paradise”
Reviewed 20 March 2012

had a 2 night stay with Ludwig and Vasu on this wonderful organic coffee and tea plantation....
They grow organic vegetables and have some amazing red rice ....the food was fantastic all freshly prepared...homemade hibiscus juice and sourdough bread along with some wicked cheese...all meals are included ....the cottages are simple yet well designed ....areas to sit out and relax.....Vasu gives a well guided tour of the plantation and offers trekking should you wish to take part....Ludwig plays a mean game of Boule and Dan ( close neighbour) is learning fast!....relaxing and most enjoyable.....we also visited nearby Abbey Falls and the Golden Temple....

Room Tip: all cottages are roughly the same ....

This is a wonderful retreat with fantastic views of hills, fields and woods a few kilometres from Madikeri surrounded by tropical plants and wild life No other buildings in sight. Also perfect temperature up here in the hills compared with the coast and lots of shade when it gets hotter.

Staff very hospitable and the open sided dining area included sofas which made it easy to relax and get to know others.

Is a small working plantation producing coffee, tea, peppercorns, cardamons etc where everything is grown organically including the delicious red rice. They also have an organic vegetable garden and was one place we could enjoy wonderful salads without worrying what water they had been washed in.
The food was fantastic - a husband and wife team are excellent cooks as is the manager cooking bread and some other dishes in a woodfired oven Every meal had a variety of dishes and we never had the same thing twice, Made us some delicious cold drinks including homemade hibiscus juice and their own cheese.

Rooms were fairly simple with well designed bathrooms and a sit out area looking over the valley.

The rates include full board, a 1/2 day trek and a plantation tour.

Like the few other guests staying, everyone wanted to book extra nights - was a very difficult place to leave and was a wonderful retreat at the end of our South India trip before we headed home.

Room Tip: There are two double bedrooms in a cottage - both were fine and had fantastic views The family or g...

We spent one night at Golden Mist-it was a lovely experience. Rustic cottages to stay in, tasty organic meals and lots of walks around the hills and plantation. All organised and in the hands of Ludwig. We learned all about coffee from him and had lively and interesting discussions putting the world right after the meals.

We spent some days at golden mist in December 2011. It was a wonderful time. Nice cottages in the middle of a plantation. Perfect walking trails. Good food. Wonderful hosts , taking care of us. You can even play Boule. Absolutely recommendable. Ludwig the German owner is very much experienced and helpful. Klaus & Birgit from Berlin / Germany

Very nice and friendly atmosphere! We just stayed there for one night but wished we could have spent more time in this little paradise.
Very friendly staff, especially the cooks should be mentioned. Mohan and his wife are excellent cooks and give you the experience of a home-cooked meal.
Run by an indian-german team this little resort is a perfect getaway from india's huzzle.
The cottages are neat, pretty big and charming.
We can totally recommend this place!
Enjoy the nature while drinking a cup of their organic tea or coffee!
