“Excellent place ..will go again”
Reviewed 6 June 2011

I spent 4 days at Coorg and stayed`at Capitol village resort,It was`a fascinating experience for me and the family as we could able to forget almost everything there ( I mean all our tensions ) believe me I was so much excited to go there as it was in the middle of the coffee plantations. The resort is full of nature it is a 30 acre property and full of nature's glory It has a lake, orange plantation and a pine apple garden. It has beautiful cottages with excellent food . NONE OF THE COTTAGES HAVE A TV, A/C in the room, only fan is provided there as they say that even fan is not required as it always remains cool. The most exciting thing is the breadth taking view of the hills just behind your room's window .
after we started from Mysore, my good old place, we straight away drove to Madikeri. we went to Golden temple at Bylukuppe and proceeded to our resort. I was really scared as we drove into the resort as it had huge line of tall trees to greet you, which you may come across in the deep jungles,we moved almost a 400 metres and found one more board greeting us "WELCOME" ,then I realized that there is indeed a resort inside, still we moved further to see a beautiful property with seemingly exciting views of KODAGU.

You may be thinking that I am endorsing this resort..indeed as it has given me so much happiness and was virtually cut off from the world. By the way except for BSNL, you dont get any coverage in that area. It has a coin booth, if you need to contact some imp loved ones you can do so with it.

I wish that my friends who are in Karnataka / India / abroad should visit this place. This is full of nature, greenery and excitement.

We got a quite old and merky room with damp walls, bed and a lizard. But on request, they shifted us to a better room. But still it had cleanliness issues. Hot water had mud in it in the morning. So overall you have to adjust here and there.
location is quite nice with a decent balcony facing beautiful view. Staff is friendly. Resort is a bit off the road and you may want to go during day time at least for check-in.
Food is pricey and average but eatable.
My car faced injuries on the brick incline road leading to resort so that was turn off for me. They don't accept cards and nearest atm is 5KM away
Once you adjust with all the above, it is quite nice place where you can spend time with nature. Its not a bad place but I guess i am accustomed to expect some bare essentials by now.

The owner, Mr. B. Ganesh Aiyanna was extremely hospitable. He really made us feel most at home and welcome. The resort is beautiful. Rooms are very large. Food was excellent, especially their pork preparations. The place would be even better if they upgrade their power back-up generator -- get a noise-less one which could also be used after 10pm. Something also needs to be done to get Airtel and Vodafone mobile signals to reach the resort.

We arrived at Capitol Village Resorts around 11:00 pm. There was no electricity. I had spoken to owner a few times before & he seemed very helpful. He made sure that someone was waiting for us at the resort. It was pitch dark all around. The staff member took us to the room & told us that power will come around 11:30 pm & just left.(there were 1 candle in each room, we had booked 2 rooms) We tried finding him again after the power was restored but no sign of him or anyone else in the whole resort. After half an hour of search, we gave up & decided to sleep.
There was buzz of mosquitoes but after a log day (trip to mysore & drive to coorg) we slept like logs.
Next day early morning we could see the beautiful setting. But also with that we could see what all our rooms lacked. Our bathroom door just didn't close, there was no net (reason mosquitoes could come in) in the opening in the wall (for air i suppose).
The linen was ok. The bath towels were clean. But for the amount we paid, we feel its overpriced. We also had breakfast (nice dosas) at the resort before we left. They were steeply expensive(more like 5start rates!).
I would suggest this place only because its in madikeri. So if you want to do sightseeing you are close to the heart of the city.

Stayed here for a whole week because it was so good. Arrived without a booking, no problem, they got us a room with a nice view over the whole place. BIG room with two beds stuffed together and a big post running over for hanging mosquito nets (the mosquitos were mean around there, huge and bit through two layers of clothing). We even had a third guestbed in another room, plus a nice clean bathroom at the end. Large area.

The staff is very nice, especially the owner's son who is taking over, one of the nicest guys we met on our whole trip. We were very well taken care of by everyone else too. The food was excellent, try the dry chicken, and the home produced coffee (as this is a coffee plantation).

In general a place to hang out and do nothing. Let the manager arrange trips for you (reasonable price!), consider going to the elephant retirement home, nice place. I long back as I write.
