I was placed in this hotel after expecting another which I was accustomed to. When I arrived the power was reduced and the AC didnt seem to work too well, I only realised this later.
As is not uncommon the front desk staff were not overly well trained for foreigner reception. However as time went on they became really kind and helpful... quite a normal experience in Chinese operated hotels, and really went out of their way in a genuine manner.
Even though I asked for a non smoking room, they didnt exist and when I got to the floor I was to stay on, the stench of stale tobacco was almost over powering. Finally the AC came on and it seemed to clear for the rest of my stay.
Room was fine thereafter, Food was fine in an ordinary way. Chinese buffet most nights.
The hotel caters to one of the big ship yards at Nantong and is at the city centre so quite convenient if you want to move around outside-- I dont.
I would certainly stay there again in preference to others BUT at the end of the day IT IS A QUESTION OF PERSONAL PREFERENCE and if you are not entirely used to China it may not suit. As a long term Chinese hotel visitor I give it 70% which is above good.More
