We stayed at Adobe House for 5 nights in November 2016. We flew into Talara airport from Lima. From there, the owner arranged a van service for the 6 of us for $75. The ride was about an hour and 1/2 or so to the house. Just a warning, flying into Talara you will feel like you have landed on a different planet. Dirt mountains everywhere and trash flying by like tumbleweeds.
Getting to the house was a breath of fresh air. The house looks exactly like the photos. You could really stay there all day every day and not ever leave. We went into Mancora once for shopping (about 5-10 mins by van) but didn't feel the need to go back.
The beach is gorgeous and you can walk far in either direction. The water is pretty rough, so be careful going in. Not recommended for people who are not strong swimmers!
We were 3 couples so we occupied 3 of the 4 bedrooms. There pool area is amazing, as well as the nap room that overlooks the sea. The living room is very comfortable and we loved the outdoor fire pit area.
Our cook made us as many meals a day as we requested. You order what you want for the next day the night before, and she will do the shopping. At the end of the day, you pay for the food and if you had them stay late (they work till 6, if they stay later, it is about $10). The food was amazing. We loved everything and she was sure to make our favorites more than once.
None of the 6 of us were Spanish speakers so we did struggle a lot with translations, especially trying to request a thanksgiving-ish meal on thanksgiving but she did a great job. We used google translate and a phrase book to communicate.
If you find yourself in this area, don't hesitate to rent Adobe House. I will never forget it!
