“felt very much at home”
Reviewed 6 February 2012

Nuestra casa is Roger's home and he welcomes you to share it with him, his elderly mum and the staff who have been with him for many years. Nothing is too much trouble - cups of tea, tourist advice, lifts to the local restaurant. Drinks and lifts are charged for but it's all up front and very reasonable. The house is spotless and very comfortable and over the road from a fishing beach where we swam every day without ever seeing another holidaymaker. We had a wonderful time.

One word of warning: It might be difficult at nuestra casa not to talk to your fellow guests because of the communal nature of the space - so this may not suit everyone.

We stayed here for 3 nights and had a lovely stay at this guest house. The room and place were very tastefully decorated and clean; excellent value we thought. The service was extremely personalised and was quite like a homestay in that you felt integrated into the family. We learnt a lot from Roger who provided an incredible amount of info on the local area and culture and he would always try to accomodate. It was very interesting talking to him. He is a white British and Jamaican citizen who has been living there for over 25 years. He lives there with his mother who is obviously an amazing woman. The staff were very friendly too.
Oh and if you are lucky on a fishing trip with their gardener fisherman, like my fiance you may catch a big foot and a half long king fish like he did! Yummy!
Definitely recommend Yalla Falls trip. Try some local peppered shrimps from the roadside too and local fruit...
Definitely go to Sparkies for dinner as his food is amazing and very reasonable again.

Room Tip: The room with a sea view.

We spent a week around x-mas at this amazing guesthouse. We felt welcome and at home from the start and the feeling just got better and better. The house itselft is comfortable, clean and "homy". Roger, our host, and his crew Anika and Jeremy did their very best to make us comfortable. Roger is a typical English gentleman with a great sense of humour and service. Only the best is good enough. Anika is a great cook and always has a friendly word or two for the guests. Jeremy is a true entertainer. Ask him to do his card tricks for you. You wont regret it... All in all, this guesthouse is a gem. I will be back whenever I go to Jamaica again.

Room Tip: Don't worry. Roger will make sure you get a room that fits your party.

I stayed two nights but wish I could have had more time. Roger is a fantastic host who will make you feel like a part of his family. The house itself is lovely, set on a hill overlooking Billy's Bay and a pretty garden. The rooms are ornate and comfortable and come with mosquito nets. There is free access to Internet. The meals are tasty and good value. Roger arranges rides and excursions for a fair price and will provide helpful contacts and advice for your trip in Jamaica. He drove me to Kingston with a memorable lunch stop at Alligator Pond.

Room Tip: Have your bus driver take you down to Billy's Bay when you arrive, as it's a bit of a walk f...

I can't imagine any other place making me feel so comfortable, so relaxed, and so at home as Nuestra Casa. Roger is the amiable proprietor who does not stop at merely ensuring you are happy while in his B&B. He seems to do everything in his power to make sure your entire stay in Jamaica is wonderful, through constant contact with his extensive network of friends and associates. The result to you, his guest, is a much more intimate and higher quality experience than you could get anywhere else, with no hassles.

The establishment itself was very nice. The rooms were a good size and the beds were comfortable. All of the furnishings were of good quality. Half of the house is "open" to the garden outside, which gives every seat in the house a pleasant view and a nice breeze. I think there are only four rooms, so it never feels busy or crowded, and getting to know the other guests comes easy, especially over breakfast.

As for the Treasure Beach area, it is a quiet community where at first we thought we might get bored, but it only took a day for our internal clocks to adjust to the easy pace of rural Jamaica. Our days were spent mostly exploring by foot, finding so many beautiful beaches. There are not many commercial establishments, but Roger's chef Anika prepares great authentic meals, and the neighbourhood restaurant called Strikey's is always a hit, where half the fun is watching Chris, the owner/cook/waiter, bouncing to the reggae music in the kitchen while he cooks. Our one day of adventure was a boat ride to Pelican bar by Kanute, which is a must-see. On another lazy night, yet another member of Roger's staff, Jeremy, entertained us all with card tricks!

Everyone I met at Nuestra Casa feel like friends to me now, including Roger's darling mother Lillian, who would treat us with a short visit each morning. I hope I have a chance to return soon.

Room Tip: The "red room" was great.
