“Great Family Option”
Reviewed 15 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

If you have a young family, you know how important it is to have a regular bedtime routine. The fact that the kids had the own room, made it more like home. After putting them to bed, we closed their door. When they woke up, they played with the toys provided with the apartment, we never took their toys out of our car. My husband and I were able to have down time alone, watch a movie and not worry about waking them up. Our kid loved this place.

Liked best: The view was great, loved the privacy. There is no one behind you.
Liked least: The smokey smell in the outside hallway. Our room was non-smoking, but we assume there were other smoking rooms. Also, kids bedroom was too small for a second bed. No room to move.

“Wonderful place”

School House Wookey was just lovely - a very well appointed apartment in a magical place. Incredibly helpful owners and we felt very comfortable staying in this lovely part of the country.

“A very well kept, modern, cozy and fitted apartment in a beautiful location.”

Just back from our August bank-holiday stay at The School House and we it was a very happy stay in a beautiful and modern apartment. Finding the place was not difficult, however, my advice (general travel stuff really) would be to allow for extra time if you are coming from far on a busy weekend (e.g., a bank holiday). We travelled from the east of England and unfortunately got stuck in traffic going to/from the Bristol direction. If you know the roads well though, you'll be fine.

We were a group of 4 sharing the two bedroom apartment: 1 double-bed room with an ensuite (including shower); 1 twin bed-room (which could be changed to a double on request). There was 1 bathroom too, no shower in it, just bath -- however we just shared the ensuite when we wanted to use the shower -- easy peasy.

The main room is an open kitchen / lounge area, with lovely wooden dining table + two contemporary benches to sit on when eating. Gas hob + fan oven too, which was handy as we did lots of cooking when there, eating way too much delicious food and retiring to the comfy lounge to chat/play board games/watch movies, etc. Very well decked out with can openers, cutlery, crockery, cups, dishwasher, wifi (not kitchen related I know..), etc. We did bring along our slow-cooker as we knew we wanted to use ours and couldn't see if there was one there (I guess there might be one in future, who knows).

The people in the vicinity were very friendly too, which made the trip very comfortable. On our way for a walk, one day, we bumped into a friendly neighbour who lives there called Franklin, who kindly gave some fantastic advice of a short and beautiful walk literally starting from the back of School House. We pretty much walked out the back, along a bridle path, past some small stables, and up and up the hill. Turning round after about 10 minutes, you can see a very lovely and picturesque view of Glastonbury Tor and the surroundings. Keeping on up the bridle path eventually getting to a road, we turned left to Priddy, where one can stop for a lovely non-touristy bite to eat / lunch / drink. We opted for a picnic in a field as the day was so lovely though! Following the road back towards Wookey, we passed some gorge that we took a little walk in -- also lovely!

My only other tip would be to make sure you print all the confirmation details before hand, and stuff you are likely to need, before you get there, as the phone reception can be a bit flakey there (although we noticed the EE network there seemed really good!).

All in all -- a great stay, and we'd recommend it!

“Great base for West Country touring”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We stayed here just for the weekend - in probably the hottest spell we have had for a long time! My only suggestion (purely based on the weather!) is that floor fans are only around £20 and would be a good addition to the impressive tally of extras this holiday let has to offer. I would definitely stay again. It was clean, modern and bright. If you have children there are toys and games in one of the bedrooms. Everything was fitted out really well, within very easy walking distance for Wookey Hole and there is a local pub with excellent food. We visited Street, Glastonbury and Wells while we were there and each was less than a 20 minute drive, in fact if you fancy it you could walk to Wells. Will definitely visit again.

“outstanding in every way!”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

This place was an amazing find and was finished to such a high standard and equipped with everything imaginable! The whole apartment was clean, comfortable and spacious with fantastic views. It was ideally located to visit lots of different places and a lovely place to come home to at the end of the day. Will definitely be returning and recommending to others.
