We stayed here overnight during a visit to Coggeshall. Aware the pub is on a busy road we had booked a newer room at the rear overlooking grassland. The pub shuts on Sunday evening and is also cheaper to stay here then which suited us! The room was next to the side passage from the pub and we felt very overlooked by passing customers as there are no net curtains or blinds. The room itself was clean and comfortable and we heard little from the road overnight. The air conditioning unit was effective and quiet. The ensuite was poorly planned and fitted . The mirror was too low and the shower doors let water out onto the floor. Although quite new some paint was already peeling and it won't age well. Unfortunately we were badly bitten by mosquitos during the night as we had had the window open during the evening. Not the pubs fault obviously but again a net curtain may have reduced the invasion. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful and staff were friendly. Coggeshall is a lovely area and this was a good place for a stopover.
