“Quite and relaxing”
Reviewed 4 October 2011

Travelling with my husband and his elderly Mother (wheel chair bound lady) 26th Sept 2011 for one week, we found the hotel very clean and well maintained, The staff where helpful but the restaurant staff seemed short staffed and quite under pressure at times..The down side to the restaurant was only two hot drink machines to cover the whole restaurant and having to queue for hot drinks whilst the breakfast goes cold, lots of good quality food available but Spanish bacon and sausage is not too palatable. The evening meals were good and the indoor BBQ was very tasty but the poor chef was under a lot of pressure to cook and serve up to long queues of hungry diners with plates in hand!! Other hot dishes were available to choose from of very good quality. The entertainment was poor but we enjoyed walking off our evening meals by walking on the straight streets laden with shops and local products especially on the street outside the hotel turn right and admire the lovely stalls lit up every evening towards the new and up and coming Santa Susanna, Lots to see and a nice atmosphere and a clean resort, train station close by and with regular high speed trains (Quiet) to Barcelona (takes 1 1/2 hrs.. to get there at a cost of 7 Euros. ... Overall a lovely hotel and resort very flat , Ideal if you have a wheel chair.

Room Tip: To request a high room on the west side of the hotel if you like the sun on your balcony.

When traveling to Costa Brava, my best advice is not to worry too much about the quality of the hotel because at least in Santa Sussana, they are basically all the same. Sirius is a nice hotel, very clean, decent food, and in good location but I could say that about any other hotel in the promenade. If you are looking for a more relaxed vacation, this is a good place. The hotel does not have a huge lobby and is relatively small, it is also not full of activities all day long, it is rather quiet. Even the swimming pool (facing the sea) is small and intimate so kids do not run and jump around you, and the music in the background makes it possible to read a book or take a nap. In short, if you are looking for a party atmosphere, the other hotels are livelier. The population in Sirius mostly consisted of couples and elderly so it is very nice and relaxing when you get back there at the end of the day.
The thing that bothered me about the hotel was the closeness of the balconies of the rooms. They are very close to one another so when people smoke (and this is Europe, it is an epidemic), you smell it inside your room and of course can't sit and enjoy your own balcony. If you don't mind it, then this hotel is definitely good and meets all the necessary needs.
A tip for those who are interested in the Costa Brava experience: rent a car and travel along the coast to see the beach towns. If you travel farther to the north, to places such as Rossas, spend the night and then come back. Do not rely on public transportation as it is tiresome and time consuming. The only plus about the trains there is that you can take a direct train to Barcelona if you want to spend the day there. Other commutes are just a waste of time.
In retrospect, I would not stay in one hotel as there is no added value in a place like Costa. I would just rent a car from the airport and travel up the coast, but that means finding a place to stay every other night, so this is not for everyone. Costa Brava has not developed much with time and it feels like you are back in the 1980's when you are there. They could be more efficient but that is part of the Spanish nirvana, I guess.

If your planning to visit santa susana by car I can recommend this hotel as the parking in a private car park is free.
The hotel is good and deserving of 4* rating, We enjoyed the food which had lots of choice. Be sure to get a room at the highest level and on the west side or you'll have very little sun on your balcony and the lower levels are overlooked by close hotels.
The entertainment is very poor but there are lots of nearby hotels with good shows.
The pool area is good, peaceful, relaxing and safe with no music blasting away as at some hotels.
We booked direct with the Hotel on arrival at a daily cost of 106 euro Half board for the 2 of us in late June.
For the smokers among you it is allow outdoors at the pool bar area and entertainment bar area and balconies.

Room Tip: Phone early to get the right room

This was my holiday nightmare. The food was cold and disgusting. The lifts stink. The staff, especially at the restaurant - impolite and unprofessional. They open jacuzzi and gym for several hours a day only. Rooms are very basic. The view was quite disappointing - we could see other hotel and carrefour buildings. The entertainment was for elder gueasts and so was the hotel.
