“Good Hotel”
Reviewed 13 July 2012 via mobile

A very good standard hotel overlooking a wonderful beach.

The rooms were large and comfy and appeared to all offer a sea view and balcony. We were in block 1 the furthest away which meant we had to walk an extra minute...big deal! Being built on the side of a cliff there is not much by way of gardens or lawns but this is very much a sun worshippers retreat. Two pools on different levels, plenty of terrace area for sunbathing although we we went before the children break up so not sure how busy this place can get then? Always found sunbeds although wasn't fussy as to which level I went to. Both have bars and food. Infinity pool did suffer from early morning 'towel syndrome' and can't blame any particular nationality for this.

Good friendly staff, had no problems getting served by the Waiters or simply going to the bar. The hotel also offer room service and will tick many of the boxes for people who expect this type of service.

Food was a little disappointing. My girlfriend is a very fussy vegetarian who does doesnt like salads so she struggled with some of the foods. Not much other choice or any vegetarian meals as such. For me, whilst the quantity and choice was good I found some of the food very lukewarm especially breakfast until I found a microwave tucked in the corner. I'm not a fussy eater but do the like my food hot. We went AI so I can't really complain too much as they had everything you could wish for?

Other facilities, such as the spa was very good and free wifi in the lobby and restaurant (which should be a norm nowadays) were all greatly appreciated.

Overall, I enjoyed this holiday, Monarch airlines messed up our prebooked seats but that shouldn't take anything away from this hotel. Definitely would recommend this hotel.

We've stayed at the 'other' Gloria Palace, 10 mins walk away twice before and had watched this hotel being built and had wanted to try it.
Good points;
-attentive, polite and helpful staff
-good welcome on arrival
-newness of the rooms and facilities
-location 5 mins walk from fab beach
-lovely view of the bay from the spacious balcony
-incredibly clean and well-maintained
-breakfast
Not so good points
-food at dinner; too many frozen/fried/instant varieties e.g. chicken nuggets.
-enforcing 'the rules' ie. men are supposed to wear long trousers for the evening meal but we only saw the head waiter tell one youngster off about wearing shorts, once. Rules are fine, but if they're there, then enforce them! (Too many men in cropped trousers/holey jeans etc)
-too few sunbeds around the infinity pool...and all long-bagged before breakfast!
-the entertainment was of the predictably out-of-date Spanish variety

On balance, this hotel scores slightly better that the Gloria Palace Amadores due to its newness; however, there were sunbeds aplenty available at any time of day there. Maybe this was because the communal patio area was just so much bigger there. At this hotel, the communal areas feel cramped. There is another smaller pool and sunbathing area at the top of the building, which we opted to use.

If you are looking for an ideal place for your peaceful holiday - this is it. You find everything you need there - large outdoor swimming pools, nice wellness area with small indoor swimming pool, bars, restaurants, kids club, non-disturbing entertainment, beach in walking distance and especially the stunning view from your clean, large and comfortable room. We had a large terrace from which we could see the Amadores beach as well as the surroundings - palm trees, bougainvilleas, hibiscus of all colors, etc.

However, I did not enjoy the food. They serve typical international cuisine only - no local specialties. The food was quite good but not very delicious. Large enough selection of cold and warm meals, but I had a feeling that everything has the same taste. Tomatoes, cucumbers, salads - everything tasted like cheap hypermarket stuff, no aroma no savour. Meat meals were also sterile-tasting and often dried out. However, if you like fish and seafood, you always find something tempting. Unfortunately, restaurants by the beach are not any better - they make the same foods all of them.

In particular I recommend this hotel to families with small children and to those who would like to relax only. No nightlife, no tennis, volleyball or other sports options. If you prefer active holiday, try something else. If you'd like some rest and relaxation, this is the right place for you

Room Tip: The hotel composes of four blocks. If you prefer quiet and isolated stay and you don't mind 3 mi...

this is one of the best hotels we have stayed in ... clean , modern extremely good customer service not one of the staff were grumpy or unfriendly, when we filled in our questionnaire someone from management telephoned our room directly for a chat, food fantastic hot and varied... champagne for breakfast super... top pool quieter and nicer for relaxing although pool a bit fresh not heated but you can get the lift down to the infinity pool and swim, then go back upto your lounger.... beds in room really comfortable ,rooms large, great view over beach area.. lovely walk in shower and modern bathroom towel robes etc... all inclusive was well worth it for drinks wine by the glass at dinner very nice and you can have as many glasses as you want, although if you want to eat at top pool bar you have to pay , which i dont agree with ,if you pay all inclusive it should be all inclusive... the evening entertainment was a bit naff , some were good others were aweful and it repeated into our second week thought they would do a two week turnaround of entertainment ....
The area of amadores is quiet and puerto rico was not so good a bit run down but we went to puerto mogan(little venice) a few times which was really lovely. Some lovely bars and restaurants around beach and harbour much more upmarket.

A really great hotel will definitley return... we booked this hotel on the back of trip advisor reviews and were not dissapionted.....

Room Tip: book a top floor room ..block one quieter....
