Just returned from a weeks stay at the Riu Vistamar Amadores.
From the moment we arrived (4 adults over 45) we felt very welcome and relaxed. The reception staff made you feel like you were their only priority and spent time chatting to each and every person finding out about their day and making sure everything was as it should be.
Our room was fantastic, plenty of wardrobe space and lots of proper hangers to place your clothes on. The in room safe was easy to use. The aircon simple to navigate, as was the tv.
Both the room and bathroom were exceptionally clean. I say bathroom but it was a huge walk in shower. The water pressure was fantastic and aside from one instance when it went cold for a second or two, the water was always very hot.
Balcony was a little smaller than others I have had but perfectly adequate with 2 chairs and a table.
The room was cleaned every day by a fabulous staff member called Laura, towels changed and beds made.
Now we get to the all inclusive part.
The food was amazing. Everything from pizza, pasta, roast meats, salads cheeses, breads, soups the list is endless. The desserts are the same. Could not believe the choice available and all totally delicious. We also used the speciality restaurants a number of times and these were of just the same standard.

It was also good to see the management in and around the restaurants keeping a close eye on things and mingling with the guests, also good to see them eating in there too.

The hotel shuttle sevice to the beach was always prompt and plenty of seats available. We used it many times.

Now to my only gripe and it is something others have highlighted. The upstairs restaurant, used for lunch is not just a little breezy but on some occasions horredously windy. I think it is a design fault as it seems to channel the wind through the building. Once you are inside it is fine but I do not think you could comfortably sit in any of the outside seating areas without being blown away. As soon as you are away from the building it seems to ease but I do think the building funnels the movement of air making it worse.

Overall I felt it was an amazing hotel with fantastic service, can't wait to visit again

We had a wonderful time at the Riu Vistamar. When we arrived everything looked clean and modern. The staff were friendly and really helpful and we were checked in within minutes.
The room was large, airy and clean with the most amazing sea view. Beds were exceptionally comfortable and being given bottles of water was a nice touch.

The pool areas were clean and not too busy, although it had been cloudy before we arrived so the pool was freezing....! But the pool area also had great views and was conveniently close to the bar and restaurant.

The food was really good, the choice was amazing and the quality was fantastic. We ate in the "special" restaurants, Kai in my opinion was the only one worth visiting as it offered Asian. I was mildly disappointed that they were also buffet, having to book made me believe it was a la carte.

We had NO problems with illness, it must have been a blip when the hotel reopened.

But, we do have some issues.
Firstly, the hotel put hand sanitising stations at the entrances. A LOT of people (scruffy morons) didn't bother using them. The hotel should have rigorously enforced this, other all inclusives we have been to, a member of staff would squirt sanitiser onto everyone's hands as they entered, no reason they couldn't have done that here. Especially as the scruffy people had a habit of picking food up to sniff it. This seems to be a German and Russian habit, we didn't notice anyone else doing it.

Also, the alcohol selection was poor. Bottle from the wine would have been nice, especially at dinner.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on a higher floor. The higher floors are actually closer to reception and pool as the hotel is built into a cliff

My husband and I have just stayed here for a week needing a ‘fly and flop’ and this hotel certainly gave us that.

The pros.

The food is lovely considering it’s all buffet. (Even the specialty restaurants) we enjoyed lots of great food. We did expect better food from the specialty restaurants and didn’t realise it was all buffet. Considering men need long trousers it wasn’t that special. We enjoyed the main restaurant (Amadores) much more. It caters for all types, nationalities etc. (Brits are in the minority)

The view from the rooms is spectacular, very peaceful and relaxing, the rooms are tastefully decorated and although basic, provided what we needed.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The location, we were a short taxi ride from Puerto Rico (€4).

The cons.

Food labelling.

The food labelling wasn’t great. It was either non existent or incorrect. My husband ate what he thought was a potato salad but it turned out to have fish in it. Ok if you’re not fussy but in an age of allergies I would expect this to be a lot better than it was. Some days there weren’t any labels so you it was an educated guess as to what you were eating.

There are also no snack served in the bars. A bowls of nuts or crisps would have gone down a treat. In the end we paid €3 for a bag from the shop.

The drinks, you get a good selection but the spirits aren’t of great quality, if you ask for extra in your cocktails though, they oblige and they taste much better. Prosecco is included and it was very nice. Much better than the wine.

Our room was 101. The furthest away from anything, bottom of the hotel. Every time someone above us flushed a toilet, you could hear it in our room. It wasn’t so loud that we felt we needed to move, but it did irritate us a little.

The entertainment is a little naff and not to our taste.

If you’re British and you like tea. BRING YOUR OWN! You cannot get a decent cup out here.

Overall the cons were minor and we would have no problem staying again. From our expectations of the holiday, these were what made it a 4 instead of a 5.

The Riu Vistamar is a lovely hotel and probably has the best views on the island. Cleverly built into the rocks over a few levels, you get a panoramic view of the sea perfect for sunrise and sunset. The recent renovation means everything is brand new, modern and clean, and the food is of a good standard. The only improvement we could suggest is that the a la carte restaurants are still buffet style, rather than table service like many other hotels - it would be nice to have this incorporated to change things up but, again, we’re hard pushed to find fault with the hotel. There was never a rush for sunbeds in the morning and there was a lovely relaxing atmosphere around the hotel.

Amadores beach (where the hotel is situated) is much nicer and more chilled than the neighbouring Puerto Rico, which seems more geared to tourists.

Puerto Mogán, which is a short taxi ride or bus away, is beautiful and makes for a nice day out.

This was our first holiday as a couple and provided a nice, relaxing break, although I would say that there isn’t a great deal to do so a holiday here would be more geared towards sun-seekers!
