Great bargain hotel

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Jul 2016via mobile
Just got back from a week staying at this hotel. Overall great hotel for a bargain price (We paid £300 each for a week incl flights etc)
The nearby area has loud pubs and restaurants where you can see CHAV CENTRAL if that's your thing. We prefer to see more of the authentic island and go to the quieter places. We walked down to the beach most evenings. is a stunning man-made beach where you can soak up the sun and enjoy the many restaurants on the sea-front.
Would highly recommend renting a car and exploring the island. We rented a beetle convertible from the airport and explored all over. We drove into the mountains and visited the north of the Island. What a difference. Green and lush plants everywhere. We also saw the botanical gardens which is so tranquil and beautiful and surprisingly free of charge.
We went in a submarine from Puerto De Mogan which was a great experience. We saw a sunken shipwreck and lots of fish. We went on an excursion where we saw dolphin and flying fish too (even a blue Marlin)
Overall Gran Canaria has something for everyone.
Playa De Ingles is a lively area and Maspalomas is beautiful where they have miles of rolling sand dunes.
Temperatures ranged from 25-38 in July. Average about 27-30 in day and 23-27 at night.
Defo get aircon.

Issues I had:

Aircon turned off every 3 hours without fail. Had to get up multiple times during the night m. It felt like I had a baby that needed feeding.

The shower was only hot once in a week. This wasn't a major issue as a cold shower was quite refreshing.

Overall friendly staff and local shop is good for bits. Pizza only about 7 euros if want a cheap snack or dinner.

This was my first visit to Gran Canaries and i was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the location of this hotel as it is quiet and the views are stunning, especially at nights. The appointments are spacious, well equipped, clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. The staff are helpful and friendly. The shops on site are well stocked and convenient, although the supermarkets are only a 10 mins walk away. The local bus station is about a 20 mins walk away where you can get on an air conditioned bus to explore other parts of the island cheaply. Restaurants and bars are also close by - the VIP pizzeria restaurant serves the best pizzas and garlic bread by far. I would definitely return here again.

been to these apartments many times never disappointed with staff or service the the royal apartments give you a safe in your room tv with english channels your own more private pool, dressing gowns ,and if you have been before free wine fruit+water cleaners come nearly every day ,we stayed on 3rd floor pleasant views minimal noise from center I would strongly sugest you budget for aircon we had regular temps of 33 36 very hot it only dips to 28 in the evening so it was shorts for the week not many were brave enough to walk about in long pants, dont listen to our weather forcasts it is usually 10 degrees hotter they measure temp from coldest part of island .now the bad bits beer has gone up average is now 2 euro,s still find some small bars at back end of the center upstairs. transfers we went with thomas cook flights great inbound transfer was terrible 60 peole on coach no aircon ,spent 2 hours on a 45 minute transfer due to some numpty thinking we would not mind going on half hour detour to drop just 2 passengers on a golf course hotel in middle of no were ,the double back to masspalomas to carry on with us IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE COST EFFECTIVE TO HAVE PUT THEM IN A TAXI. THE RESORT is starting to see some slow improvements lots of hotels starting to spend on there rooms ,some of the shops could do with a dose of reality there prices are wildly optomistic expecting you to take there word for quality dont be fooled look around and take your time compare prices cigarettes still cheap, spirits very cheap vodka not so much ,food prices have dropped to planet and miami in the first square are unbelievably good value .if you want a taxi to playa del ingles we took one from beach to beach for 25 euroes, priced jetski, 100 euro,s biit dear brolls and sunbeds 4 euro,s getting there to all in all still a nice resort for a family holiday and you have got angry bird world as well.PS DONT FORGET SUNSCREEN SEEN MANY KIDS WITH BURNT ARMS AND LEGS

Room tip: nearly all rooms in sun suites and royal sun suites have good views however terraza mar ,the lowest block do not

Me and my partner have just returned after a weeks stay here. We stayed in the sun suites which were fantastic. Rooms were well equipped with everything you could possibly need and spotlessly clean. As everyone mentions, the balconies were absolutely huge and get the sun all day. We were on level 5 and the views were great from our balcony. There are also 3 pools to chose from (terrezamar, sun suite or sun suite Royal). We used the
Pool at the Royal as it was a
Much quieter than the other 2 pools with no entertainment, which I preferred, but if you have children the Sun Suite pool has the entertainment and kids club. The commercial centre was a 5 minute walk away which had shops, restaurants, bars etc. The hotel has a small onsite shop for your essentials but quite expensive so your best stocking up at Hipperdino or the Spar in the CC. There is also a bakery in reception which does fresh bread and sandwiches, burgers and also takeaway pizza that was lovely! My only bug bear of the hotel was that there was absolutely no entertainment whatsoever for adults and the bar closed between 10-11pm however, as the balcony was so lovely we were able to sit and have a nightcap there, so it didn't by any means spoil the holiday, but would have been nice to have a later bar/entertainment at the hotel if you didn't fancy staying out at the CC. All in all a great holiday and would definitely return in the future.

Great place, 3rd visit, good location, good value, rooms good, amazing balconies complete with table, chairs, umbrella, sun loungers and a clothes airer.Always plenty of sun loungers around the pool.
Taxis from resort only 3 euros after a heavy night! But only a ten min walk to the commercial center.

this our 3rd stay at this hotel and its just as good as the first time, the apartments are always kept spotless by the very friendly cleaners . the balconys are massive and are real sun traps from morning till late and its close to the shops and bars.

Room tip: if you book terrazamar suites 4th floor and up are good views .do not get ground floor no views and close to footpaths.
