“Just Fabulous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 August 2011

For over twenty years I have been fortunate enough to have been able to spend time each summer in Tuscany, one of the gifts life has given me, much of it at rental properties in and around Panzano in Chianti, the most relaxing and beautiful place in "rustica Toscana" with wonderful restaurants, vistas to die for, and fabulous wine.

My wife and I have recently returned from a 12 day stay at Fagiolari. This is the second time in two years that we have taken at least part of what we have come to regard as our annual two weeks in “Italia”. Undoubtedly, Fagiolari is a special place that is not to be missed. Certainly, the 1.6 km of vineyard tractor road is a bit of a challenge that requires some care, but you come to find your way and this impediment is really ‘much ado about nothing’ as evidenced by the couple with the collector Ferrari who were able to make it in and out without damaging the car.

Once you reach the property, sited in the mist of the Castello dei Rampolla vineyard, you will find an agritourisimo with a very pleasant garden, nicely appointed bedrooms in the B&B with good quality linens. There is also a small cottage. The property and facilities are meticulously well maintained throughout. The rooms and common areas particularly clean. No flies or the like around the pool area or the property. Pool area is fabulous with memorable views of the surrounding valley and the vineyards. The whole property is very quiet, one hears very little other than the sound of the cicadas and the birds, which help to make this extraordinary place a truly restful experience.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and served communally in the dining area of the house and there is also space on an adjoining covered patio. There are cooking classes available and some opportunity to have an excellent evening meal onsite.

In the end, it is the small touches are what set this property apart from all others and they come from the proprietress, Giulietta Giovannoni, who has worked hard for over 25 years to restore the farmhouse and create the surrounding gardens. This labour of love continues for us all to enjoy.

My husband and I stayed at Fagiolari for a few days in July and loved it. Yes, it's quaint and down a very bumpy hill, but once you're there you can just RELAX! The pool is awesome, the room was very comfortable and Guilietta was very helpful and accomodating. My husband took her cooking class, too, and really enjoyed it.
Panzano is also a really cute town, too. Do NOT miss Dario's restaurant. It's a great culinary experience!

Fagiolari Panzano in Chianti, provincie Toscane, IT
The location is wonderful but the road to get there is bad. We where not happy with the bad and not Italian food we received for 30,00 euro/pers. It 's a shame for Italy even the wine was very bad. The only good thing was the dessert, I hope she made by here self. Internet was not working during our stay, according other guests this is not the first time.

Like other reviewers have mentioned, the road to Fagiolari is VERY bumpy. Once you get there, the farmhouse and setting are beautiful. The pool has a spectacular view of the Tuscan landscape with vineyards and cypress trees. Like most agriturismos, some rooms are more comfortable than others. Two things that should be noted are: cellular service is very limited and wi fi is only available in the main house. The owner, Giuglietta, is very helpful, friendly, and speaks English very well. I liked being close to the town of Panzano which has lots of restaurant choices, one of my favorites being "Oltre Il Giardino". Panzano is also home to the famous butcher, Dario. Be sure to visit his shop and restaurants if you are a meat lover.

My partner and I stayed here for one night in June and both of us wished that we'd booked a longer stay.
The location is spectacular on a hillside with olive groves, vineyards, pond and lots of greenery. While we were walking in the back we inadvertently scared away a deer that had been grazing in the yard. There are several lemon trees growing in large flower pots and we saw lots of ripe and ready to use lemons.
The host, Giulietta, is friendly, warm, hospitable and genuine. We took a cooking class with her and had a great time both preparing and eating the meal!
The B&B is accessed off the main street by a lengthy winding gravel road but it's well worth it once you get there.
The stone buildings date back to the 1400s and Giulietta has done a wonderful job of restoring and furnishing the place.
We stayed in a bedroom in a smaller building behind the main building, we found the stone walls and stone floors to be charming and adding to the overall experience.
We used the pool while we were there and it was clean and in a serene peaceful setting.
We were thrilled with our overall experience and it set the bar very high for the rest of our trip in Tuscany - unfortunately nothing else measured up to Fagiolari and Giulietta!
