I stayed here with my family for 2 days in May'12. As it was a busy season the resort was full. Luckily I booked online 1 month before my stay. The resort is big enough with all around trees, inbetween small gardens with some play area for childrens. But the rooms are old. The overall cleanliness is average. But you need to pay very less compared to other properties in mahabaleshwar. One more problem with this resort is ,if you don't have your own vehicle, reaching this place from mahabaleshwar market is difficult as the taxis will be ready to come only in morning or evening. But if you are looking for package sightseeing the staff of MTDC will arrange for it by calling taxi.

About the restaurents inside the resort, there is own restaurent near to reception. But the pure vegeterians won't feel to enter inside as the smell of sea food / non veg can be felt there.

There is other restaurent called PWD restuarent which is comparatively small place but it's ok interms of food. The staff of this restaurent was helpfull enough & they delivered the food in side my room which was almost 300mts. away from the restaurent.

Overall this place should be used to save money & rooms only for sleeping. Then other disadvantages can be ruled out.

Room Tip: Do not book economy / std .rooms

The resort is very big and beautiful but the rooms are pathetic and rudimentary. If you like to enjoy the surroundings without spending much time in the room then you can go for it. But the stay in the room wont be very enjoyable. Considering the tariff, I would say it is decent value for money but not very high.

A good place for cheap in Mahabaleshwar. Online booking made things easier for us. But the down side is that the resort doesn't have enough facilities inside to wind-out, relax and enjoy the location that the resort is built on.
We stayed in economy room. Since we visited in summer the day times were pretty hot and staying inside the small room was not at all an option. Also there were a great deal of langurs which were clambering along the tinned roof.
Underline is don't expect too much out of the place. There is a 3rd party run ayurveda clinic inside the resort though but did not have enough time to check out the place. Liquor is not served in the premises but is easily available in the main market.
Higher rated rooms looked pretty good. Would definitely check them out in my future visits.

If you love monsoons and are thinking what will one do on a hill station in monsoons, THINK AGAIN. MTDC resort offers a superb location with brilliant landscape. Economical & clean rooms. During monsoon, there is superb fog & you just need to be there to see it. We visit there every year during monsoon. The hotel restaurant is also very good & the place overall is peaceful

the best time to see mahableshwar is after it has been raining awhile turning everything green . most places have shut down at this time. dis place is very spacious n sprawling, the food is quite nice and the location is very scenic. we stayed in a dormitory that was quite nice. its better to book in advance as it gets packed. the staff is quite courteous. also it is very cheap .
