“Great Location, Clean, Friendly Staff”
Reviewed 6 June 2012

We choose Alidia Beach Resort for a family reunion. the 3 nights stay was very comfortable - rooms were quite spacious, very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Being a group with small kids, we had some special requests that were always met by the staff.
The beach is about 10 minutes walk (there is a short cut but avoid taking it as there are stray dogs and lots of trash on the way).
Few things that were below expectation - swimming pool was not clean (but who would want to jump into a swimming pool when in goa), the entrance to the property looks quite run down, the restaurant in the hotel had exceptionally slow service (maybe they do not expect too many people to eat there). Overall it was a pleasant stay and very good value for money!

Room Tip: choose any room facing the swimming pool

Hotel is very green and cool. just an oasis. cool clean water in the pool. area is clean. conveniently located - in the center of Bugs, all close by.
meals as well as everywhere in the hotels of this class in India - toast, tea / coffee, butter, jam and juice.
We lunched on the beach.
Room located on the 1st floor, lived with us and the ants. ants do not bother - just live))
furniture is old, but he can live. Room cleaned every day, towels (these faded))) and the bed changed times 3-4 per 2 weeks.
the refrigerator did not provide Standard Room, we rented a 200 rupees a day.
from the room exit to the balcony - there is a small table and two chairs.
gave things to the laundry room hotel - wash off all the good and ironed)
Ocean is delicious, as always))
theft was not noticed.

The hotel is excellent. Quietness, rest. Great room, huge bed, shower, have everything you need. Around the nature - the birds can be heard on the roof roll nuts or whether the Chipmunks, or monkeys, flowers, palm trees, exotic plants.

Staff is very slow, half an hour waiting for breakfast, breakfast is very modest, but in principle sufficient to dinner. Lunch and dinner are always in a cafe - leaving the hotel to go on the road to the right, the left will Nazri Resort Hotel, and left the hotel down the 3 steps cafe are all very tasty, cheap and never had any problems with the stomach. Try to always pineapple juice.

Quick review of Alidia, a place in Baga, run by Alirio and Lidia.

1. As you enter this place from the hustle and bustle of the Calangute-Baga road, one can almost hear silence growing all around you. Green greets you in a way that only Goa (and perhaps Kerala) provides. Alidia is a charming place that one falls for at first glance.

2. The infrastructure is a bit suspect - in our case, the room AC was faulty. It took a good four hours before we got another room, which was a downer. When one checked with the folks cleaning up the room we were supposed to move to, we kept getting the "we are on it and will let you know" bit, and you know, unfortunately, that the twisted meaning of susegad is at work. Unfortunately, The AC travails did not end with the shifting to another room - due to "low voltage in the area", the AC kept tripping the first night.

3. When we checked out, without asking, Lidia reduced the room rent for the first night, mentioning that it is to compensate for the AC travails we faced on day one. I liked this not for the fact that some money got shaved off our bill, but because it seemed like a genuine effort on the part of the owners to set things right.

4. There is a small swimming pool where one can cool off from the heat of the typical Goan summer. Not much of a pool though, more of dip-and-splash-around-a-bit variety than a let-me-do-10-laps-to-exercise kind.

5. The beach is a five-minute walk away (around 500 meters) and is accessible from the back of the hotel, and through a village lane. If you take this route, you meet a quieter section of the beach. Move five minutes more to the right, and you get enveloped by the favorite eating haunts - Brittos and St. Anthony's.

6. If you were to walk to Brittos from the front of the hotel, then you hop onto the Calangute-Baga road, and it is a 10-minute walk, and not so pleasant if the weather is too hot. There are enough shops and restaurants en-route to engage you.

7. We did not eat much at the restaurant that Alidia has, but I'd like to mention it here because it is a beautiful setting - calm and quiet, and you will be enveloped by greenery.

8. I don't mean to alarm you, but do carry a mosquito repellant cream (try Odomos if buying in India) when in Goa, as the mosquitos can a bit daunting in certain times of the year.

9. Great places to have food nearby include:
a. Infantaria Bakery at the beginning of the Calangute side of the Calangute-Baga road.
b. Britto's towards the end of the Baga side of the Calangute-Baga road.
c. St. Anthony's adjacent to Britto's. Service is a bit slow here, as is almost everywhere. The idea is to relax and have a good time, not race to the end of an early meal and get back home.
d. Souza Lobo in Calangute beach. If you want to try out authentic Goan dishes, this is the place. Check out Pork Vindaloo, Sorpotel, and the different types of Goan fish, prawn and chicken curries, such as Rechaid, Cafreal, Xacuti, to name a few. Stay clear of the Chinese food and the other Indian food served there though - focus on the Goan cuisine that they are so good at. For dessert, try Bebinca and Dodol. Have fun.

The hotel Location was good and It was very close to Baga beach itself but the walk from the back of the hotel is not good especially at night as there is no light. The staff and especially the security guard was very welcome and friendly and always had a smile when he greeted us. The rooms and bathroom were good and clean but the shower was sometimes cold during certain times. Breakfast was provided with room service and was good. The swimming pool was very clean and good and our room was right next to the swimming pool and had a balcony and it was nice and peaceful to sit outside. There is also a supermarket on Baga main road for food and drinks and for eating there is plenty of Restaurants nearby on and off Baga Main Road or even in Calangute.
The beaches of Calangute and Candolim are nearby only by taxi. Also best to do Water Sports in Calangute as it will be cheaper. For excursions to Old Goa and Panjim and other Places in Goa then hire a taxi for the day for approx 2200 R/S . Also try to use the Ayurvedic Massage next to the Hotel for approx only 600 R/S .Finally the
Transport to and from the Airport should cost no more than 1100 R/S
