Once Francesca realized we were serious about our quest for a particular flavor, she quickly honed in on an excellent and (relatively) affordable representation. Our shipment home to the States arrived on schedule, in good condition. Both the selection and shipping processes were far easier than we'd expected.
I'm back home and drinking one of the wines that we shipped back. As for the prices, they weren't much less than we could have ordered from the least expensive wine dealers in the US, but the big difference is we actually got to try them first. There weren't many people there because it was later in the day and during the off-season, so we had the full attention of, I believe, Samuel (sp?). He was very patient and knowledgable and once he figured out our tastes made some excellent suggestions. We couldn't afford the twelve bottles of wine needed for free shipping, so we bought six Brunellos and six
Montalcino Rossos and paid $45 for the shipping - more than fair in my opinion.. We
sampled a lot of wine and learned a lot about Brunello. Let me just add that there is another shop in town that appears to have the same, or similar, name. We went there and were disappointed considering the reviews we read . I'm glad we accidentally stumbled across the right shop.
Thank you very much:)
We enjoyed our tasting experience. Staff was very welcoming and kind. They described with passion and clarity how Montalcino wines are made. Then, we tasted different wines of different years and with different aging processes.
It is worth a visit!
Excellent presentation. Very good wines. A place that you have to not miss if you are travelling on Tuscany.
one of the many winery where you can taste montalcino wine... the concept of tasting wine is a great way to get tourists and in this area of Tuscany, it becomes mandatory to enjoy some good wine
Since we were short on time and we wanted to ship a case of Brunello back to the US this was a perfect choice for us. We were the only ones there and we received alot of help in choosing some Brunellos to taste . We tasted at least eight different Brunellos and bought three bottles each of our favorite four. Our $38 tasting fee was waived and we received free shipping back to the US. We were treated very well and we enjoyed knowing we had wine we liked going back home to enjoy as we remembered our day in Montalcino and surrounds.
