Owner description: Built in the late 16th century and only reached by boat from Sala Comacina, this magnificent villa is known for its picturesque gardens, which exclusively feature flowers and trees the colors of the Italian flag: green, white and red. The villa is currently closed, it will open to the public on March 11th 2017.

While this place was really lovely, we found it very expensive. It cost €10 per adult + €5 per child just to visit the gardens. (Extra to do a guided tour of the house.)
This was in addition to the €7 pp to get to the villa via water taxi. You can walk it which I am told is lovely, but it was too hot to do this when we visited.
The gardens were pretty impressive and you will love them if you are a Star Wars fan. (It was where Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala were married in Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones).
Despite the beautiful gardens (which didn't really take long to wander through), I thought the whole experience was a little underwhelming.

We didn't visit inside the villa but the gardens and this was well worth it. We parked at Lenno (for free) and were pleased to walk the 1km to the villa and gardens. It's a beautiful walk and you can then take a boat ride back to Lenno if you'd rather afterwards.
The gardens were beautiful and I'd highly recommend visiting on a day when the sun is due to shine, the views and photos will be even more lush.
May be worth checking opening day/times as I believe it's closed Mondays and Wednesdays. Tuesday Lenno has a lovely market in the mornings so you could combine it with a trip to the villa and gardens.
Take plenty of water with you for the trip. I didn't see a shop to by wate near the gardens.

A beautiful garden and Villa well worth a visit. Make sure you sit and watch the short video before going into the villa. It explains about the Italian explorer, Guido Monzino.

The collection of priceless antiques and finds in the house is stunning, The previous owners story is quite fascinating and its well worth paying the 20euros for the private guided tour.

Lovely. The house tour is superb. So interesting. The gardens amazing. You could probably do the place in a couple of hours but you just don't want to leave. Our tour guide was lovely. Take the boat there, it's great to arrive like James Bond but walk back, it only takes less than 10 mins and is mainly downhill on the way back.
