After reading other people's reviews of this hotel,we were slightly worried about the standard.....minutes after arriving at the hotel our worries were gone.
We were lucky enough to have a family room and it was spacious, clean with daily maid service.... the only small downside was the lack of English speaking TV channels(something that may benefit families with children more than a couple)
There was a good selection of food, in the restaurant, available 3 times a day and between 12 and 4 around the pool, friendly staff and if you get to reception at 11.00am(sharp) you can book into the Greek and Italian A la Carte for free (well worth it for a change as you can choose your main course and have a bottle of wine)...It does get tedious after a week, but eating at the same restaurant 3 times a day for a week does,so best to save eating out til the end of the hols.
There is lots of entertainment, day and night and you can choose to take part or just relax.
The beach is pebbles so Jelly shoes are recommended, there is a constant breeze this side of the island which keeps it a little cooler.... we had no problems getting sunbeds and parasols....there are free beach towels if you want to cut down on luggage.
The usual standard of all inclusive drinks(local spirits, beer and some cocktails) are available til 1.00am...and there are 3 bars (2 around the pool and 1 inside)
There was a lack of British people in the hotel, and whilst this isnt a problem, its quite nice to chat to others about their holiday and find out information.
There is a cheap car hire place 2 mins from the hotel on the main street called Star car rental,30 euros for a fiesta for the day and visting Lindos and especially Agathi beach are recommended.....they were beautiful!!!.We also drove into Rhodes town one night and there is plenty of free parking.Taxis are a fixed price and the airport and Rhodes town are 14 euros each way.....We also went to a restaurant called Maestro along the beach from the hotel and that was nice.
Ialyssos has its own small area with nightlife and its only 5 mins walk from the hotel....(turn right out of the hotel and then right again) you have cocktail, sports and karaoke bars there....there is a nightclub just outside the hotel.
The hotel is on the flightpath so prepare for planes overhead in the day.
Watch the Mosquitos!! We had both never been bitten before but they seemed to like us,so take some Jungle Spray!!
All in all,Sunshine Vacation Club is a good 4* hotel,i would recommend it to close friends and family as a clean, good value holiday destination. Some of the reviews on here,i suspect are from quite pessimistic people.I have stayed in many all inclusives and worked in the holiday industry and i couldnt find any major faults......Hope this has been of some help....Enjoy your holiday!!!

We found this hotel to be in a good location for being a beach front hotel but it is right on the flight path. The aircraft come over the hotel very low and the noise is terrible!!!
On some days there must have been 100 planes come over whilst we were on the beach.
We had bad weather for most of the week and found it hard to find something to do. The pool bar was always busy, this was the only one open during the day. The lobby bar opened at 5pm. This was a better bar with better service.
On arrival we were put in block 5, It was the worst block. The room was very small and smelly. It was next to the lift so it was noisy. The bathroom flooded when we had a shower. Also the air con didn't work in this room. We complained to the manager and found him very unhelpful. He was rude with us and refused to move us. We spoke to the rep over the phone who was helpful! He arranged to come and see us. After he spoke to the manager he managed to move us into block 1, top floor, spacious and clean.
The food was okay, some days were nicer than others. The Italian near the beach was very nice but you need to book in advance.
Take your own hairdryer, the one in the hotel room is rubbish!
We didnt use the pools as the weather was bad but it looked very nice and big. There is a quiet pool at the far end but no bar nearby to get drinks.
The beach is pebble, take swim shoes if you want to go into the sea.
Some people complained the beds were hard but we found the beds fine.
We did get bit a few times so take repelent sprays.
The hotel could do with a good makeover and the staff (reception) need to learn to be more friendly with their customers. They were very rude and not interested in helping you at all. The other hotel staff were friendly and always had a smile for you.
We would go back to Rhodes but not that area.

After reading a couple of bad reviews before we left, I was rather worried about what the hotel would be like. Here is my review with honest opinions:

Flight from Manchester - with Strategic Airlines, 20 mins delay going out but made the time up and arrived early, on the transfer coach for 20 mins before being dropped off second at the hotel - fantastic start no problems. Arrived back in Manchester half an hour early, airline good with English cabin crew.

Rooms - spacious and clean, maybe a little dated but had everything you needed (wardrobe space, etc). Maids came in every day and cleaned the room to a high standard.

Pools were vast, had a choice of which pool to sit by with lots of choice of sunbeds. I did not see anyone put their towels out the night before but some early birds were out - where we sat I never saw any taken sunbeds not being used. Clean pool area and lots of space but cold!!

Food and drink - no problems at all, always found the drinks to be a decent standard. Food was good but limited choice and became quite repetitive for a 2 week stay. My advice, take some extra money and have a meal out once a week.

Entertainment - saw most of the shows and some were better than others. The comedy ones were excellent, you must not miss these, very creative and very funny. Nemo and Sam are great comedy actors.

The holiday in all was excellent, lovely grounds and a much bigger complex than I expected. It is very windy but it was not a problem, neither was the constant aircraft overhead. The British guests are definitely in the minority but that was not a bad thing as some of the other foreign guests were very nice, although some did not believe in queuing and would push in front of you for food and drinks, some were very rude. But on the whole there were some really nice people. Staff were pleasant in the restaurant and worked hard to ensure tables were cleaned quickly and efficiently.

Big thanks to Katie, Marco and Rio who were excellent with the kids both in the day and at mini disco.

I would definitely return here again, this year if I could, but probably next year now. For the money we paid, it was great value for money and I could not really fault any of it apart from some minor quibbles but it did not distract us from having a fantastic time.

just returned from an amazing week at this hotel!!! this rooms was lovely with lovely sea views, clean and spacious. Maids did a terriffic job of cleaning and changing our towels daily, it was really spotless.
The pool area was kept clean and again spotless and so was the restaurants. The restaurants were lovely with good choice of food for all as we have a very fussy child and he ate well each meal. Bar staff were great fun and very helpful.
Most of the holiday makers are not British but either Dutch or from Belgum but this was no problem as we met some very very nice people whilst enjoying our holiday!!
ok entertainment!! must say this is the best animation team we have EVER come across and we do go on all inclusive and cruises 3/4 times per year but the team were truely brilliant!!! They seem to work very hard together as a team and provide brilliant fun around the pool with games for all ages. The entertainment at night is very very good but the dance/singing shows that they put on is outstanding!!!! There is an English lad called Johnny who is a brilliant singer and a very charming young man! The dance team of Marco, Merilees and Kate (rest i cannot remember names, sorry) were amazing, must watch the 'Michael Jackson' show it must of took a lot of hard work to get this together! The little blonde dancer Kate is amazing and is head of dance team works very hard and seems very polite and proffessional but yet so young.
Defiently going to return back tho this hotel and hopefully if we can stretch our budget this summer if not will be next summer but truely hope that this outstanding team will be there next year and the lovely staff of this beautiful hotel.

Just returned from a week at The Sunshine Vacation Club, I have to say that it was very positive. We had a lovely sea view room and had champagne and a fruit basket in our room on arrival. The room was cleaned daily with new sheets and towels. The pool area was also very clean and well kept.
One point which has been mentioned by others is the frustration of other holiday makers leaving towels on sunbeds and not even using them so on some days we were unable to even get a sunbed.
The food was good at lunchtime but we tended to eat out on a night as the evening food was a bit like canteen food but lots of choice and edible.
As others have mentioned there are not a lot of British travellers in this hotel but that did not bother us as we don't like to socialise on holiday.
The only relly negative point was the fact we had to check out at mid-day on the saturday but our flight wasn't until five thirty on Sunday morning. We aske at the start of our week if we could pay extra to keep our room longer and were told they could not let us know until check-out day. So my husband went down very early on the Saturday to be told we could transfer to another room for eighty euro. We paid this and were relieved to have a room but it would have been nice to have known earlier in the week.
The second room we stayed in was very nice but unfortunately we were visited by a giant cockroach in our room. (A result of being on the ground floor I suppose.)
Overall it was a great holiday and the hotel was very nice. I would return again.
