Just arrived back from hotel solemar, travelled with Olympic holidays and have to say their service was excellent. We are a family of 3 with a young child aged 9. Upon arrival the reception staff were extremely helpful and it showed through the course of the week they were the nicest members of staff. The pool area was fine, the pool a great size just abit too deep too quickly. The pool bar area was nice for shade and kept tidy. We were on an all inclusive package, we ate at the hotel 5 out of 7 nights. The food was nice but very repetitive and felt we needed a break from it and ate out 2 nights. The puddings were great carrot cake, chocolate mouse, lemon drizzle cake etc all homemade and delicious! Our 9 year old is a very fussy eater but managed to find her something to eat every lunch and evening. The bar staff could be much more friendly, manos a great guy just in a world of his own most days, but unfortunately were not impressed with main bar man on a evening as he just complained all the time that it is too busy and his attitude towards guests was not veryprofessional! The lady at the pool bar was grumpy and it appeared that she did not want to be there. One morning we woke up to find a pile of what could only be described as diarrhoea outside our room which did disgust us at the time but isn't the hotels fault we put that down to a low proportion of dis respectful guests staying at the hotel, however they were also a great number lovely guests staying there too who we got to know over the week. All in all you really do get what you pay for, lovely hotel and reception area- just need to cheer up the staff and maybe a few more animation activities for children.

Front of hotel looked ok, we're seen to our room very dirty not impressed at all, just unpacked essentials went down to breakfast usual fare again dirty food marks up pillars dirty seats they constantly ran out of food utensils coffee juice etc.
Went for walk around not impressed fungus around pool area especially around foot bath/shower area. Met with rep asked to be moved she retorted it will cost you around three hundred euros I agreed to which she was very surprised I said it would be worth it to get out of this outside toilet conveniently there were no hotels with spare rooms that was that no joy from reps who just barely went through the motions. I complained about the cockroaches and ants the manager sent up a spray tin of Raid!!!!
THIS HOTEL PUTS CUSTOMERS LIVES AT RISK BY KEEPING THE FIRE DOORS JAMBED OPEN AT ALL TIMES THESE DOORS STARVE A FIRE AND STOP FIRE SPREADING NOT A GOOD WAY TO LOOSE YOUR LOVED ONES.

Food standards are subjective but we ate out most of the time but the personal hygiene habits of the staff leave a lot to be desired so much so I stared one guy down his head went down and went and washed his hands.

All inclusive the hotel runs a segregated bar If you are all inclusive you are segregated to the rear of the property at the pool area so much for the not so bad frontage.

All in all very poor all round - indicative of a company that is millions in debt reps need to do a lot better.

Complained to Thomas cook IT WAS ALL OUR FAULT, dirt cockroaches ants fungus etc are common in foreign countries THEY ARE COMMON IN THE UK BUT IT IS KEPT IN ORDER DUE TO CLEANLINESS AND GOOD HOUSEKEEPING

before travelling to the solemar, we were quite apprihensive, but there was no need. were were 3 mates on a girls holiday, self catering in the appartments which were clean and tidy. The hotel staff were so friendly, especially the young girl on the reception desk who went the extra mile to get us a late check out. okay, there were areas around the pool that could do with updating, but it was definatly not dirty, and staff were cleaning morning and night. We were glad we were self catring as the food didnt look particuarly nice. On the whole this was an ideal base for a girls cheap and cheerful holiday, with the hotel being in ideal location for areas around rhodes!

If you want spacious rooms, beautiful gardens, fantastic facilities then go to the Olympic Palace and pay the extra money. This is a 3* hotel although it has 5* staff, who couldn't do enough for us.Special mention goes to Gabriel, a great bloke who runs the bar in the evenings, assisted by young Manos. Sadly all inclusive hotels are killing the resort of Ixia and when the all inclusive ends at 11.30, most people go to bed, very sad because it wasn't very expensive to carry on drinking, compared to England anyway. We enjoyed our stay, found the food to be OK and varied and the room comfortable, air-con an absolute must due to the extreme heat, worth the 50 Euros for 2 weeks.Would i go back to this hotel ? Yeah, i think i would.

Room Tip: E-mail the hotel before you travel and ask for a sea view, i did and got one.

do not be put off by the bad reviews of this hotel. If you want five star accomidation PAY for it! This is a classic three star hotel, cheap, clean, friendly place. The only issue that we had is this hotel is very all inclusive orientated so if you are going self catering prepare to feel second best. The location of this hotel is excellent two minute walk to the bars and resturants. I would recommend caballero bar! Excellent service great shows! Very helpfull and friendly staff. Overall great fun to be had so thank you to tom (owner) ronnie, thomas, jed (the hypnotist) and to the rest of the staff for making our holiday great! Miss you all! Resturant i would also recommend is Romeos absolutly delish and cheap enough to boot. The beach is also a couple of minutes walk over a quite busy road but if i was you i wouldnt bother pebble beach and very crowded in places. All in all we had a fab two weeks and would like to go back next year. Hope this review helps you decide. Thanks for reading.
