I really don't understand all these bad reviews...
I traveled to sun palace hotel on the 1.10.12 for 11 nights with First Choice.
I stayed in the old part of the hotel. considering its old i thought it was of a good standard.
The room was cleaned everyday with fresh bedding and towels.

The staff are very friendly and will do anything possible for you. (within reason obviously)
especially Mika, Roxanna and the first choice rep Rachael.

The food was good they have a different theme every night only one night in my stay i couldn't find anything i liked so we went out. but you can't please everybody.

The snack bar in the water park was great with freshly made pizza made all day long along with other things.. and the water park itself was very good with life guards on every slide. i also recommend the water park in Faliraki just a 10 min walk up the road.. prepare to be thrilled!!

On a whole i had a great time a the Sun Palace Hotel and would defiantly return again!!

Sun palace hotel. Ok if ya like flies sharing the food. The same food every nite, Very slippery so many ppl spillting there heads open. Rooms well lets just say i would not put a cockroche in their most definatly not kids.Full of stray cats and dogs and there pooh left all over the floors cause it hot the smell is discusting. Staff very rude and definatly not there to help u. Boring entertainment we seen the black velvets performme 3 times in 14 nights shocking. Holes round plug sockets. Aircon was leaking black nasty water very dangerous. Blood on the actual matress. Fag burns in the bedding. All u get out the reps might as well be am not intrested. The water pipe to the coffee machine in reception was attached to what supposed to be a wall fountain discusting it needs closing down. States its a 4 star. its all false advertising so dont be fooled. Could not wait to get home. My 4yr old still havin nightmares 3wks after we are home. The best part of SUN PALACE IS THE ROAD OUT OF THE HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good stuff: waterpark snack bar, waterpark, air con in rooms is good, fridge in rooms is good, location, cheap car hire and they don't take your credit card details, staff great, beds comfy, weather was great (mid October), close to airport 25 minutes transfer, 10 minute walk into town, great snorkelling at the beach.

Bad stuff: food very poor was tastless lukewarm and flies everywhere, aggressive wasps at the water park snackbar, 30 euros a week for the safe, alcoholic drinks horrible I bought myself a bottle of bacardi and my own cans of Coke as the soft drinks were horrid, if you get a pool view room the noise is terrible, rat in our room (really!), shop was expensive, very little shade in pools and not much depth or variety either, no sparkling wine. My holiday was just sitting in the shade at the waterpark snackbar drinking my own shop bought Bacardi and Cokes and listening to MP3's. All the supplied drinks (both alcoholic and non) were horrid. Meals kept me alive but not much else. Among 5 of us there were 3 episodes of vomiting and 2 episodes of 'the other end' during the week. Not good.

Our previous holiday was all inclusive at the H10 Rubicon Palace in Lanzarote which was outstanding. Don't go here you can get so much better for your money elsewhere. Poor Greece really did look like the economy was on the brink as well which is a shame as the country and it's people are lovely.

Room tip: Avoid pool view rooms if you want peace and quiet.

Have never been so disappointed before, worst holiday I have ever had!
Reading reviews I was really looking forward to this holiday, I was even packed 4 weeks before I was due to go but from the minute we arrived it was 1 disappointment followed by another.
We stayed the last 2 weeks of the season and felt like we were just getting in the way of the hotel closing.
ROOMS- We had a family room, it was dark with hardly any natural light what so ever. We had the most awful smell of sewage every night from the drains just outside, made us feel physically sick. The patio doors were very hard to open and they wouldn't even lock (not very safe considering we were ground floor) Ant's were a real problem aswell. Bathrooms are run down with cracked tiles and mould. The toilet flush fell off the wall. And the floor tiles are leathal when wet and you cn't avoid getting them wet cuz when you let the bath plug out it comes up through the floor before draing away. Eventually a week into our stay we did get moved when we realised other guests had been moved (hotel said they had no more rooms) We were moved into the newer block. The room wasn't much better ants a continuing problem to the point the cleaner just handed me the ant killer so she didn't have to keep coming over. Faulty electrics, wires just hanging out the wall, Rusty water was leaking onto the terrace from the rusty air con unit (i think that's what it was) this wasn't just grose but dangerous aswell cuz the tiles were so slippery when wet. and the terrace was filthy, I had to ask the cleaner to clean it as it had obviously been like this for a while. All in all the rooms were not nice at all.

FOOD- Disgusting! The food in the main dining hall was awful. Same meat every night in a different colour sauce. Dry fish, hard uncooked veg (frozen veg), Chicken just tasted of salt. It felt like we were basically being fed what ever was left in the freezers. The second week was even worse with the choices really deminishing. Flies were everywhere and none of the food was covered. The morning bread for toast was just left on the counter compltely uncovered, the flies had a field day with this and only 1 toaster for the whole hotelwith elements that had gone so you had to put the bread through 3 to 4 times before it started to toast. Birds were also free to just fly around the dining room leaving birds mess on the dining tables and chairs. When I pointed this out to staff they just walked away. The saving grace was the waterpark food, fresh pizza everyday, but there is only so many slices of pizza you can eat!
Drinks were pretty bad too but then they often are at AI so won't say much about that but what did annoy me was when drinks machines were running out that was it, they wouldn't refill them because it was end of season....I still paid for AI so expect the same treatment that guets recieved in July. Fizzy drinks machines in the dining room were flat and when we told the staff again they just shrugged their shoulders. No one cared because all the wanted to do was close and go home!
Never at any point during our 2 week stay did we have any of the themed nights, We had No BBQ night, No mexican night, No italian night, No carvery and no Greek night with Greek folk music and dancing as advertised in the programme in the rooms.

Entertainment was again Awful.....We traveled with friends and between us we had 12 children ranging from 1-15 and there was absolutely nothing for them to do. The entertainment of an evening consisted of- sit in a circle and throw a ball in a hat, 4-5 kids disco songs, bingo the a quiz or Kareoke if they couldn't be bothered with the quiz. And none of this started til about 8.45pm, quite late to just be starting the entertainment. Some quizes the kids couldn't even join in cuz it was a drinking game, fun for adults but when kids went to run on stage with the answer the were shuved away, not really a great way to get the whole family involved. We ended up spending hundreds of euros just on the pool tables to keep our kids happy. When it rained which it did for 3 days we had no entertainment at all and yes rain is quite common at this time of year in Rhodes but no one had planned for this so no entertainment was put on. You were lost at night in this hotel if you didn't have a pack of cards or Uno. We couldn't even go back to our rooms to watch tv cuz the only english channel was world news.
Entertainers- Sean was just plain rude and how he became an entertainer I do not know. 2 of the girls were just wet blankets with very little personality at all. Lauren was lovely but she went home the 1st week we were there and Aurel (entertainment manager) was fab, he made you smile the minute he walked in a room, shame he was only there from bingo onwards.

Other things wrong with this hotel- No health and safety standards at all, highchairs with broken straps so can't secure your child. Loose railings on upper floors. Walkways like icerinks when wet, Public toilet areas out of use for days, cleaners mopping floors with no signs, many accidents happening in the 2 weeks I was there, 1 lady broke her neck, a man cut the back of his head and a child cut his chin open. Animals free to go around the dining areas pooing where they please, Just disgusting!

The only redeeming factor to this hotel is the waterpark and the staff who work in it. Food was better there and the lifeguards were fantastic

Faliraki has also had it day, not only were we in an awful hotel but resort aswell. Faliraki looks like it was aboned many years ago. The fairground and funland are just pieces of baron waste land. Restuarants and bars were closed, They looked they had been closed for quite some time and were falling apart. It actually gave me the creeps being there.

I would never ever visit Sun Palce hotel again and certainly would not recommend it to families with kids of any age. I was that shocked at this place I am making a full complaint to FC about just how Dire this place was. I have holidayed to many places in Greece, Cyprus and Egypt most being 3 star hotels and have never felt the need to complain about any of them til now.

Shocking place!!

Room tip: Ground floor are dark and gloomy and suffer bad with ants

We arrived after 10pm, check in was fine but finding our room was more difficult when told by reception to go left up a bit right etc etc in the dark, It would have been nice to have been given something to eat but nothing was available,We had requested a room in the new block, thankgoodness we got one because the rest of the hotel is old, solid concrete similar to a cell block with stairs and landings ( which is great fun for gangs of kids playing chase, throwing drinks at each other and basically staying out of their parents way,do you get the picture )Flies all over the restaurant food which is always cold, waterpark food is fresh,a la carte food better we ate there every night after speaking direct to hotel, as we found Claire the FC Rep was too defensive and lacked customer service skills, the greek staff were lovely as all greek people are, hotel is a two star at best, also worst time to go end of October as hotel is closing down standards drop

Room tip: New block overlooking the waterpark top floor, stay away from the annexe, email before travelling also confirm with travel agent
