For whatever reason ( probably the huge choice in Petra), we had passed Eden many times but not dined in there. It was day 13 of the holiday and it was 1pm so we took a seat at one of the tables on the platform area immediately in front of the beach. Service was fast and within three minutes we had ordered lunch, tzatziki and Greek salad to share, plus a couple of soft drinks.
People who have read my restaurant reviews for Petra may well ask why we always seem to order a salad at lunchtime, and the reason is that not only is it exceptional value for money, but it also happens to be very tasty and rather good for you.
The food arrived within a short while and we agreed that the tzatziki was easily the best we had tasted during the trip, thick, creamy, and lots of garlic. Another nice touch was that rather than the usual pitta or bread to scoop it up, it was served with a basketful of toasted, fresh, mini baguette slices liberally dusted with sesame seeds. As we had come to expect all across the island, the salad was large, full of flavour and had the most delicious olive oil drizzled across it.
The bill was just over €12, another bargain and our only regret was that we had left it so late to visit this taverna.
