Wish we had read the review's before we went. Save you money and go somewhere else. The place it's self looks lovely. We went in there was no one to seat us. When they did the table cloth was burnt. We ordered out food. Then we waited and waited and waited. By the time it came I was famished. They seem to have mixed up or order by giving us both the same dish. However we were that hungry we didn't complain. The food was lovely . We ask for the bill and it was slammed down on the table. The staff we rude and unhelpful (I had to get up for our own napkins and salt/pepper). Don't get me started on the chairs. They have to be the most uncomfortable things I have ever sat on. Sadly we couldn't wait to leave so missed out on our free!!!! Orange for dessert. Such a let down as it looked so inviting.

There are over 100 restaurants in Platanias I was there for Two weeks and this was easily the worst one I ate in. Yes the setting in nice but the food is God Aweful. Luke warm meat half Raw French fries and very minimal portion sizes. It was nearly the end of the world when I wanted to pay with a card. AVOID the restaurant and go elsewhere ANYWHERE.

This place was a big disappointment. As reading the previous reviews, I think it's worth mentioning that one should make difference between the coffee place and the restaurant. The coffee place seems to be nice, bit the restaurant is absolutely the opposite. First, the girl in the front immediately spoke to us in Swedish, which was already a sign. I mean, not everyone in Platanias is Scandinavian and even so, you are in Greece so it does not give really good impression as you are spoken to in your own language. The place itself is nice, traditionally decorated. But the food was not worth at all. The rabbit stifado was mostly just bones. The worst thing was the piglet, which was sooo tide and dry - in two words horrible. The worst restaurant we were during our 2 weeks stay. Not recommended!

We popped into this cafe early one morning simply because it looks so beautiful - and it is - the decor is a delight. We had a freddo espresso and orange juice, both were lovely. We didn't eat anything so can't review meals - they have traditional Cretan music nights which we'd like to try next time if we're there on the right night!

Arokaria is a local coffee place that serves nice desserts and homemade refreshments. The architecture of the place is also very nice!
