Our family recently had an opportunity to explore Belize. We chose Belizan Dreams resort as our base station. We were not disappointed.
Hospitality is definitely their crowing achievement bejeweled with a lovely ocean and delicious food. We arrived earlier than expected due to Maya Island Air moving us to a different flight. No problem for this customer service orientated staff which worked to accommodate our unexpected arrival With smiles all around. Our pick up driver gave us a tour of Dangriga with a pass by their market before heading out.
Our villa was a two room ocean view and it was lovely. Our Family of 4 including our 11 and 9 year old were very perfectly accommodated. We often opened up our large sliding doors and let the ocean breeze refresh us. The beach is not a white tiny grains of sand beach, and there wasn't a wait staff walking up to take my order as I ocean worshipped. The beach is quite!! and I didn't have to share hardly at all and the bar? It is only steps away, so mosey up for a pinacaloda (kids love'em, alcohol free of course) or my favorite: a rum and coke. If you must eat with sand between your toes, no problem they will be more than happy to set up your table beach side. Then sit back and enjoy the peace and quiet of a NOT over crowded beach.
Our package included meals at restaurant so we ate there most days and four tours. We found the food to be delicious and the staff accommodating, right down to providing Good French fries when we just had to have them(they aren't McDonald's fries but they are good just ask my kids:-) and room service when we wanted a more intimate dining experience. This meant setting up our table and waiting on us in our room!:) so beach side or dining room French fry, Johnny cake, polenta or baklava it was all great!!Kudos to the chef and staff!!!
Our tours were great! Our guides were greater. They were knowledgable, very personable and made every effort to make sure we were safe and comfortable (providing, drinks, snacks and even stopping to pick an orange or two along the way)
What's important for others travelers, that I think might help them decide if this is the right resort for them: The distance to tours or other "things to do" can be long.. The road to and through Hopkins is horrible. If your kids need entertaiment other than a pool , ocean, or a good book. It might not be your style. Mostly there were adults hence the peace and quiet. (obvioisly my ambiovert leans more introvert on vacation) There are of course power outages; they have a generator and we were told you should never notice the outages. We experienced 2 thirty minutes segments in our 7 day stay, apparently that was a fluke as the generator had a problem. Pick up your rental car upon arrival and avoid a return trip to Dangriga:) One thing I wish i had brought; a mask for sleeping. There were outdoor lights that shown in my room and I prefer no nights lights:-) but it didn't bother me too badly and no other family member noticed. The Internet service was good. I was able to down load books on my nook and browse Internet on iPad, including a video chat from my room. If I lived in a perfect world, I could have had this beach side.. Hehe.
I gave this 5 stars because I had a five star experience. We all slept well, ate well, and were treated like royalty.
