We stayed at the Holiday Inn and after some eight hours of flying and airports we were ready for a rest. Unfortunately our room was not quite ready and the friendly and helpful staff upgraded us to a suite. Even though this involved crossing the road from one building to another, the trip was well worth it. The pool was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was bedlam at peak times, but staff managed it well and there was ample food available for all contingencies. Cleaning staff were excellent and very efficient. Would certainly stay there again.

Had a fabulous 8 nights here in a family room (2 adults and 2 teenage children) and was excellent value for money and the staff were always very friendly and helpful and the overall service amazing. Hotel is currently undergoing some renovations which on arrival was a bit of concern but no doubt will be much improved in coming months but they didn’t detract from our stay at all. Rooms were a little “dated” and could have done with an extra chair or two but were very clean and immaculate and the beds very comfortable – pressure in the shower was amazing. Loved all the gym, games rooms and areas available and definitely recommend for extremely good value family accommodation option where you don’t want separate rooms. Location was perfect – right on night markets and food stall strip. Sunsets on the beach were breathtaking. Will definitely love to come back again in future.

Room Tip: Good Family option for 4 rather than separate rooms

We stayed in the Tower annex on the other side of the road from the main hotel. It was a very large, spacious, comfortable room. It was very quiet as well and had a small balcony facing onto a forested mountain.

We had stayed at this hotel several years earlier and it was still a good option. We liked our well kept room very much as well as the excellent buffet breakfast in the open air dining room, the pool and the helpfulness and friendliness of staff. Just outside the hotel were bus stops with buses to the national park and to Georgetow. Also not far from the hotel was a variety of excellent restaurants.

Dear “ElderTrekkers”

Greetings from Holiday Inn Resort Penang and thank you for taking the time to write a great review for our resort. Thank you for highlighting our spacious and comfortable rooms and as well the helpful and friendly team members.
Holiday Inn Resort stands for great value for money, great location and family friendly. Besides our great location our Norther Indian specialty and our Western and Malay dishes in the Terrace café, there are multiple choices of great food in walking distance. This is what Penang is famous for. You can go from local streetfood, to hawkerstalls to local eateries to up market restaurants just around the corner!!! Georgetown is easy accessible by Rapid Penang Bus just stopping outside the hotel. We offer a 10am shuttle bus to Straits Quay, Gurney Plaza and Komtar (booking in advance required). And for the nature lovers there is the nationapark with monkey and turtle Beach and the lighthouse for some nice rainforest hikes and animal spotting. Entopia the Butterfly farm has been newly re-done a year ago and is absolutely a must see. Tropical Spice Garden, Exotic Fruitfarms and nutmeg farm are always well liked too.

We look forward to have you back for your next visit to Penang.

Sincere regards
Dominic

Due to some ongoing construction work in the entrance area, the first impression was not excellent. This improved however, and my 'summary verdict' is as follows:
Service and attention: very good
Room: Functional but dated. Good size. A bit dark. No balcony.
Restaurants/bar: Very good breakfast selection. Other food was good, but not exceptional. Main restaurant design clinical, not inviting
Facilities: Nice pool and garden. Direct access to the beach. Gym was modern and equipment selection was good.
Other: There are two accommodation buildings, one is directly on the beach, the other is located across the road, but connected with a bridge. This one is taller and I imagine the view from the higher floors is good. My impressions are mostly from the beach building.

Dear stop62,

Appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback on your recent stay with us here at Holiday Inn Resort Penang.

As you noted the hotel is in the process of a long term renovation and we are now doing the reception lobby and next year we will be doing the Beach Wing rooms, as mentioned we have two buildings connected by a link bridge and have 14 room types which include kids suites and rooms with balconies if selected where you can enjoy either sea or hill side views.

It is good to read that you recognized our service and attention and that you enjoyed our breakfast selection where we offer a selection of Western, Chinese, Indian and Malay dishes.

Our location in the centre of Batu Ferringhi with the local cafes, night market and hawker stalls just steps away and the beach at the end of our garden makes the hotel a great choice for those that enjoy the convenience of everything close by.

Hope to welcome you back again to Penang in the future.

Kind regards,

Cameron Smith
