“Amazing.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 August 2012

Stayed here for a week on a business trip, this place is amazing. Complete paradise. Huge tropical trees right outside your balcony, amazing pools with interconnecting canals, beach on the resort, massages while you sunbathe. Food was amazing. Cannot rate this place enough.

Stayed for 5 nights in July & it's quite simply one of the best hotels / resorts we have ever stayed in. We had booked in to a Deluxe Room in the Rasa Wing, on arrival we were offered an upgrade to the Premier Room for a small fee, once we were shown the room we knew we had made the right choice. The Rasa Wing itself is well worth the extra charge as you get private check-in, complimentary soft drinks during the day, afternoon tea, canapé & cocktails. My only little gripe is you are not allowed to use the Rasa Wing pool if you have children. These seems a little harsh & you feel as though you are missing out slightly. That said the main pool is really nice anyway. The staff are so polite & helpful, the food is to die for. We will definitely return.

This hotel is very expensive for Asia so we were expecting a huge wow factor. The grounds and pools are stunning and really made our stay. We ended up upgrading to the rasa wing and the extra cost was worth it for the adults only pool. The room was disappointing, quite dated and something you'd expect from a generic 4 star hotel. The bath and toilet bowel were dirty when we checked in. Buffets and service were excellent.

I recently spent 4 days at this hotel with my family (wife and 3 children). We stayed in the Garden Wing with adjoining rooms. The rooms were large and nicely furnished but perhaps a little bit dated and in need of some update. The in-room facilities are excellent: small minibar fridge, large flat screen samsung TV, complementary water (although for some reason the Ras Sayang gives out lots of plastic water bottles unlike the neighbouring Golden Sands that provides you with large glass (and more environmentally friendly, I feel) bottles.

Wired and wireless internet connections available inside the room (I'm not sure if we were supposed to have complete wifi access in our room on the 4th floor - the literature said it was only available in common areas - but the signal was top quality strength).

Very large bathrooms with separate shower and bath tubs and lots of space, but the electrics were a bit dated all round (with a master switch to turn off when you leave rather than the usual need to add/remove your card from a master slot).

Beware of ants, we left no food out (as advised) but they still felt the need to come in, mainly in the bathroom but the odd one or two ound their way onto our bed at night - not a huge problem.

Decent balconies that were big enough for all 5 of us (at a squeeze) and beautifully manicured grounds that lead up to the very nice local beach. The Garden wing pools were a tad chilly (around low 20's C) but bearable, however, being under neath two huge trees means that the pools gets all sorts of leaves and general tree debris in it and the attendants seem to either have lost interest in keeping it clear or the tree just drops so much stuff they have a hard time keeping on top of it - I don't know which it is.

Beware of the non-child restrictions in the pool in the Rasa Wing.

On the whole a very pleasant hotel to stay at and the staff were friendly and helpful and certainly a top recommendation for anyone wishing to stay there.

Room Tip: Make sure you choose a room looking to the rear of the hotel, otherwise your view will be a carpark...

This large beach front property has a homely feel and does not feel crowded. The gardens are large and the ideal place to relax during the day. Breakfast is a real treat with a fantastic selection of good on offer from fresh fruit to japanese steamed savouries.
The spa is very nice although it is situated indoors rather than outside as in some luxury hotels.
Dining options are good and their is a wealth of choice available outside the hotel in the evenings.
We took a drver for the day which was very good value and he took us to sights around George Town. We particularly liked the E&O Hotel, where we had a delicious lunch. In fact, we liked it so much we booked to stay for a night, but that is a different review!
The jungle is easily accessable from this resort and a day trip to see the monekys is fun.
