Swam here many times, never got sick! A bit scary swimming over an old city, but it was really pretty! There is a pool nearby (in the lake).

A very rare and beautiful place. Lots of islands to see. Every island is a different experience. You can take the simple or Luxury ships or private yatch. We took the 伯爵号 Bo Jue Hao, luxurious, clean and beautiful. Managed to get the ship tickets at RMB-280 per pax. Definitely worth the experience! For kids 1-1.2m, it is RMB-100. We came during 16-18 March. It was cold (around 15 deg) but we like it. On rainy days, visibility is low. But when there is no rain, can still see the green islands.

The best time to visit (according to the locals and pics on the web) is during June to Sep every year, where the weather is warmer and lots more greenery to see.

We were there in Feb 2018. It was beautiful! We had a gorgeous sunny day too. However, choose wisely which tour of the islands you do. We did two tours. The first one was incredible! The photos that we got of the thousand islands from the first island we went to - was just breathtaking! However, the next day, we went on a different tour and compared to the first tour, it was rather dissappointing. The first tour was the one that left around 10:30am. I think all tours that leave around that time go to the same islands - the second tour left around 2pm. Also, we went to the I think was - West ferry terminal - which most people don't go to. We happened upon it by chance catching a random bus from the city centre - we didn't realise there were tours to the islands until we arrived at the terminal as there wasn't much signage in the city centre in English.

It’s the 3rd time visiting/staying. Only few our drive from Shanghai. One of the best place to getaway from city, especially if you enjoy the nature.
Highly recommended to visit in summer, most of fun activities including river rafting is closed during the cold season.
Check your GPS route with local maps, if you decided to drive on small mountain routes, baiduditu got us lost in middle of nowhere.
